HI
It is usually done while being nuetered and should only cost about 100 more to take it out, where I live about 350.00 if all goes well, remember the longer you leave it in the more chance your dog has of developing cancer. After surgery he will be sleepy a couple of days and a little tender but they are back to normal in about 2 weeks you may have to make them rest while healing,
Hope this helps

Cryptorchidism Surgery Cost

I live in Canada so can't suggest a vet. My dog had the same problem. The cost was the same as a regular neuter. Can't remember how much as this was years ago. The post op was a breeze. No sutures or anything. Took him home the same day. He was a little wobbly & did go pee in the closet by mistake, poor guy, but he was fine the next day. You have to get this fixed or the testicles can become cancerous. Good luck.

well you should really already have a vet. and as far as the rest. normal cost in my area at the vet i work at in the kc area is $110-125 depending on the size and weight of the dog. this varries because of the amount of anestetic needed. plan on puppy staying the night since it is more of an invasive procedure than a regular neuter, and depending on where the retained testicle is. some are in the flank area and other are in the abdomen. ask the vet about pain meds, we send them home with every neuter, but not everyone does. just ask and the vet should accomodate you. as long as your dog does not chew the area and there isn't a suture reaction the area should be fully healed in 10-14 days. after the surgery you shouldn't take your dog on any extrenuous walks or rough play. but your dog will generally let you know what he's up for doing. keep in mind dogs tend to have a higher tolerance for pain than humans and recover very quickly to out amazement. don't pamper him too much or baby him too much (of course some, he's your little buddy) but too much and he'll think to expect it and wonder what he's done wrong when he's better and you've stopped. and i have to say GOOD FOR YOU! for being responsible for neutering your dog especially a crypt. these guys are more prone to problems down the road. good luck to you and your fella.

you haven't taken him to a vet yet? does he have his shots? look in the phone book in your area. ask others who have pets what vet they go to. your dog will get pain meds and anesthesia, but it might cost a lot depending on the dog's size.

ok, i just read what the dog has. it will be a more invasive surgery, and one that the vet will have to probably charge more for. talk to the vets around your area, and make sure you get a good one.
