My labrador had 2 puppies 12 weeks ago. They are cross between lab and shepherd so are going to be big dogs, They are really lovely,, black beauties. I found a good home for the boy when he was 8 weeks old but so far can't find a good home for the little gifrl, She is now 12 weeks old and I am worried that because she has been living with my other 2 dogs all this time and is so at home here, running around the garden. sleeping with the other dogs in my bedroom and seems so happy that when/if I find her a home she will be very unhappy. She is a good dog and is practically toilet trained. I would love to keep her and might have to if I can't find her a suitable home but I haven't really got the room for another dog. If I do find her a good home will she be ok , it is really worrying me, she's like one of the family now and I know that when she goes I will be heartbroken , so how will she feel. ?Should I keep her even though it isn't really practical

I just bought a japanese chin puppy (11 weeks old) this weekend and her litter mate scratched her in the eye two days before I bought her. It is a bluish color and sometimes she squints when the light is bright. I took her to the vet first thing this morning and they gave her some medicine I have to put in 8 times a day(it was an animal eye clinic). I just need some advice on how long it takes these kinds of things to heal or if sometimes they do still require surgery. Also, she has been sleeping a whole lot. Not really that playful, but when she does get up she wags her tail and licks me. I talked to several people and they seem to think it's her way of adjusting. Please advise.

I have a 3 month old brindle chihuahua who is absolutely beautiful. He has the most playful spunky personality ive ever seen in a dog. I bought him because i've always wanted a chihuahua but now that i have him i am getting really interested in the breed. Is it possible to show a dog that is CKC registered or not? If so, what is a good age to start training for this, and where is a good place to go.

My dog is a shih-tzu and in order to keep her healthy and without mats, we have to shave her down. So now she shivers because it is so cold out and she has a coat she wears and we have a lot of blankets at home, so I was wondering if you had any other suggestions?

i have a 9 year old beagle whos VERY sweet, fat, and loving. he would NEVER hurt anyone! then, i got a dalmatian puppy. puppies will be active, i know that, but my dal always wants to play when my beagle walks in the room. my dal starts play bitting and jumping on my beagle. my beagle is now limping and i have to seperate the house. my beagle seems very depressed now because i spend so much time with the puppy and not with him, so when i'm running around and playin with the puppy and the puppy jumps up on me, my beagle thinks i'm in danger and starts to try to protect me when i'm not in any danger. i guess my beagle thinks my dals just a bundle of trouble while my dal thinks my beagle is just another dog to fight with. what should i do to make them get along?

The way I understand it, the tether law prohibits any dog from being tethered for more than 4 or 5 hours at any time. This seems unreasonable to me for two reasons. First, if someone is at work, then they are unable to leave their dog outside during the day, where it can go if it needs to. Second, there are people who have tethers on their dogs that are 15 feet long or so, adequate shelter, food and water. This seems better to me than having a dog locked up in a 4'x8' kennel. Not allowing tethers at all doesn't seem like it would solve the problem of irresponsible people who are still going to tether their dogs and not provide for them.
About the cars, I understand that people are not allowed to leave dogs in a car if it is either too hot or too cold. Too hot, I completely understand. But who determines what is too cold? My dogs are used to cold weather, and are better off in a sheltered car than out in the cold that they are completely used to. (I have high energy dogs).

I'm a meter reader, so I walk through hundreds of yards each week, and see dogs outside all year round. But I feel bad for some, for example, Friday in Jersey was 10 degrees outside with below 0 wind chill factor,I was freezing, and at 6:30am I saw a Golden lab mix who had obviously braved the night. and every other night cause the dog is never inside, he has a doghouse but no blankets, I would never do that to my dog. What should i do, again I walk through the same yards every month and know the dogs that are always outside in the cold. Should i report these people? I also ask myself if this dog is picked up and then put to sleep, if i should have kept my mouth shut. I would'nt want that for the dog at all. thanks for you help

I recently asked another question, and some of the answers made me think. My landlord restricts certain dog breeds, which include Rottweilers, German Shepherds, Mastiffs, Dobermans, Chows, Akitas, Pit bulls, and "Amercian Terriers" I don't really know what is meant by American Terriers, but i assume they mean American Staffordshire Terriers? So these are the breeds listed in writing on my lease. I recently asked the landlord about American Bulldogs. She said they are also restricted because, in her words.. 'They actually are pit bulls" Which is not true. She also said that any other breed that resembles a pit bull is not allowed. So if American Bulldog is not in writing, is it legal for her to restrict them? Or any other breed that resembles a pit bull? I am not going to push her on this, i am just going to wait to get a dog. I was just wondering if she is actually allowed to do this, if it is not in writing on my lease?
