ok we sold this shihtzu pup to this young guy...seemed to be nice and that worked at the local bottle depot and lived nearby....seemed good enough but the only thing was is that he needed to do it on a payment plan...a hundred here and a hundred the next payday and then again until paid for...all fine and dandy...he only paid 200 for a 350 dog...and hid out for 4 months....we found him the other day and now he wants us to pay him his money back for that dog to get it back....but he mis treats it leaving it at home for 2-3 days with no food or water or a bathroom. and he doesnt want it
what can i do....would i be able to just take the dog back and not pay or would i have to pay....no written agreement no recipets no nothing....or should i just leave it alone??????? please help...i want to save my dog but i havent got 200 to save it with.....i need advice

If he isn't providing food and water, then it is time to call the ASPCA in your area because that is animal cruelty. Let the cops or ASPCA settle it for you -- sounds like this guy is a con artist.

How can you even prove the dog was yours to begin with???? Why did you sell a dog without a contract??? Why are you breeding dogs when you obliviously don't know what you are doing??
If the dog really is being mistreated then call the SPCA to look after that aspect of you question. As for getting the dog back you could go and try to adopted it back form the SPCA , that's why legitimate breeders have CONTRACTS and know what they are doing and lay the ground work BEFORE breeding so that when things like this happen it is a guarantee that the dog will come back to them.
My advise would be after you call the SPCA to leave it alone and stop breeding until you know what you are doing. And there's a lot more to breeding than civil contracts!

if he is neglecting the puppy for 2 to 3 days that's not right. the dog isn't even a year yet!!! that is crazy and not right. u didn't sign pappers with him so u should be able to just get the dog back cuz u didn't do an agreement with him on how to get the dog back. first of all he didn't even pay u the full amount for the puppy so y should u have to pay him his money back?? it's not fair to u at all. u just want to have ur dog back and yet u have this jerk u won't u back ur dog. u should go to the humansociety and tell them that u want ur puppy back because the guy won't give ur dog back. also tell them that he has been neglecting the puppy for 2 to 3 days without giving it water, food or taking it outside. the poor thing is probably scared and wants to go to a different place to live. if they say that u would have to adapt the back then do. u can take him to a small court session. to see if that will help u get ur dog back. if u plan on doing that i would get a lawyer first then tell ur lawyer that u want to take this idiot to court to get ur dog back. then tell the judge wat he did and hopefully the judge will listen to u. then if he is saying that he is trying to make an agreement with u cuz u want ur dog back and he doesn't want it anymore. then u can tell the judge that he didn't pay the full amount on the dog. so hopefully this helped u out and good luck with everything!!!! hope it works out ok!!

1) spay Ur dog -
U don't have a contract, U don't do rcpts, U don't have any good records
breeding isn't a hobby or a side-biz; it's a COMMITMENT to 'better' the breed
2) call Animal Control or the cops and report BOTH his neglect of the dog, AND the fact that he owes U $ for the dog/hid out to avoid the bill
the chance of U getting payment is very poor; the odds of the dog getting out of his home, and into a better one, are pretty good; the odds of proving neglect?
can't say, but TRY ANYWAY!
this dog needs an advocate, and u may be the only one... good luck! :-)

If there was no contract for the sale of the pup, you can't legally make him give the dog back. You should spay your dog and not have any more pups.
If he's mistreating the dog, you can call the ASPCA or animal control and they will check it out, and possibly confiscate the dog from him.

Do you have a local SPCA? No paperwork at all? No papers were exchanged? You might not have to pay, but the SPCA can take a dog away from a person for neglect.

Well first of all you should have done a thorough background check on the buyer, secondly you should have gotten some sort of written aggreement... lastly if it were me I would save money and buy the pup back... don't let it suffer

Be a responsible breeder. If giving him $200 will get the pup back, then give it to him. This pup is your responsibility. Find the money.

If its being neglected then call the "animal cops" and just tell then you want it instead of them taking it to a shelter and adopting it out. If they charge you like a adoption fee just see if you can volunteer at the shelter to pay your debt.

call the local police or raise money to get it back, or if he is leaving it in his house for 2-3 days with no food or water, call the local ASPCA and tell them about. Once they bring it in just adopt it, or tell them your problem. that is really sad. :.(
