AHHH bluish tinge is not good glad you went to an animal eye clinic, keep using the drops for several days after the eye appears normal.
I would say that if there was no improvement or gets worse in the next 3 days then take her back.
Ring the clinic and ask the vet nurse - they should have told you when to worrry that the medication wasn't helping.
Eye scratches can be inredibly painful - I have had one so I am not surprised she is flat. However pups do sleep alot 16 hours or more a day.
if she has an ulcer in her eye and it doesn't heal from the meds she may require what is called a third eyelid flap (suture third eye lid over eye) or suture eye shut for several days so that the eye can heal.
Please ring them and ask don't just trust us on here - they are the professionals!!

Yes mine has. I took mine to the vet because I didn't want to be the cause of her going blind from lack of care. Not that that's what you are doing! My dog walked around with one eye closed for a week!
The blueish markings that you are seeing is the wound. If you decide to take her to the vet, they will swipe her eye with a dye and have a look to determine how bad and deep the injury is. They will probably give you a salve to put in her eye to prevent infection. I think it's a good idea to take her in....just to be sure. But generally, it has to be a pretty severe injury to cause permanent damage and the injury you are describing will heal itself in about a week. If you decide not to take her to the vet...keep a close eye on her eye and if you see any unusual seepage or drainage, she will then need medical attention immediately.
Dogs that have an injury will sleep a lot. That is normal. Having an injured eye is quite painful. Let her be until she is feeling ready to resume her activities.

Sound like your on the right track! Thats great you took her to the vet. It prob will be okay in a week. If not I would call your vet. If she is sleeping a great deal, she could be adjusting. I would watch her! Small dogs like Japaneese Chins, can lack sugar they need for their bodies. In pet stores they sell tubes of a gel like substance. This stuff you can give to your dog 2-3 times a day. You just give her like a drop. If she does need sugar, this will give her that supplement, and its for puppies. If she is lacking sugar, she can go into a coma. Be real careful this is more comman for smaller puppies. If you ask a local pet store, they will know what Im talking about, and help you. Good Luck!

Follow the vet's instructions and the eye injury should resolve pretty quickly. If the eye starts to look red or more irritated than it is now or pus forms, go back to the vet right away. Her behavior does not seem terribly unusual. She may just be a quieter, more reserved puppy than most or she may be a bit subdued because of her injury or her new household. She is acting friendly and not frightened, so I'd say she's fine.

Corneal scratches/abrasions are very painful. I think the lack of playful behavior is a reflection of discomfort. Generally, uncomplicated injuries can take as long as 3 weeks to heal. The blue tint is most likely part of the healing process. Make SURE you follow up with the veterinarian at scheduled recheck exams. Be patient and most importantly protect the eye from further injury (playmates, cats, house plants). Jap Chins have mildly buldging eyes so they are a little more prone to injury.

wegot a dog and had a puppy that got a scratch to the eye we too had to put drops in . I think we wad to do this for 2 weeks to a month. sugery was never mentioned. Your puppy is sleeping a lot because you just got it and it is healing, futhermore puppys require a lot of rest

Call your vet for the medical questions. That's what they are there for.
As far as sleeping, she's a pup. Puppies sleep. Their schedule is basically Sleep, eat, play, poop, pee, play, sleep, sleep, eat, sleep, poop, pee, sleep, play - you get the idea. If you are concerned about it, mention it to the vet when you call him.
Did the breeder not go over puppy behaviour with you? If not, be sure to lose this breeder's phone number. If you used a good breeder, then call them and ask what the deal is with the sleeping.
Good luck to you and your dog. : )

Take her to some other vets, maybe more professional ones. It sounds like a slightly minor scratch, and I assume, just like the cornea on our eyes, will heal (hopefully) with out surgery.

my dogs eye popped out of its socket and we had to take him to the vet. he was there two days and he had to have a cone on his head. if your dog has medication from the vet then he will be fine. just keep other dogs away from her and let her be pretty much alone. she probably needs to be inside awhile so it cant get infected. is she a house dog anyways? hope she gets better!!
