People don't show Dogs for money! I don't think there is a monetary prize and they only get a small replica of the trophy!
The amount would certainly not cover the cost of a year of showing the dog it takes to get to Crufts or Westminster and the Crufts winner has usually been shown internationally.
If they do make money it's from breeding and all groups best of breed dog's and bit.ches are worth more in stud or puppy fees. That win is the important one. Winning the title doesn't increase the value of the dog for breeding and it's purely for prestige.
It often gives the winning breed more popularity but that has the down-fall side of the wrong type of people being attracted to the wrong breed for them and unscrupulous breeders ready to take advantage of the average pet owners lack of knowledge of the breed and its requirements.

hi, they do get a small amount of money, but it does not cover expensive, to show at crufts is more a name thing than a reward. If you visit the kennel clubs web site it will tell you a lot more. I no many breeders who show and i think they said its about £250, so considering how much it is to entry to crufts and other dog shows, which you have to pay, you are never gaining financial.

Willie was a beautiful show dog but I would not like to have to walk him in the country and then clean his fur and groom him. Crufts is all about best of breed and can't be judged by normal pet owners standards.

I don't know if there is a cash award, but if there is I guarantee you that it's nothing compared to the amount of money that the owners of the dog have spent showing it. A win at Crufts or Westminister is all about prestiege.
Unless you are a professional handler being paid to show someone else's dogs, there is no money to be made showing dogs.

It's actually £100, the real money comes from breeding the dog in the future as people will always pay more for a pup from a best in show winner!

I think that the winner gets the prestige ... they don't get to keep that Trophy, just hold it for a while. No prize money either.
