We tried Advantix with absolutely no luck at all. Following the vet's advice, we bathed our puppy and applied Advantage once she was dry, and to my amazement she was damn near flea free for a few days. Then tonight she wakes me up, obviously misserable, and sure enough, she's covered. I've spent about 30min picking off and squishng fleas the best I can, but I need to do something better. We plan to treat the house just as soon as we get the chance to, and at that point we'll treat her yet again, but until then...

Would it be OK to get a flea shampoo for puppies and use it on her periodically *prolly only once, since we'll be getting the house done in the next few days, come hell or high water* until we feel that investing in a fea treatment will work? I CAN"T figure why it isn't other than the house is infested. All the cats seem fine, though... I don't get it.

I think my dog just ate some gum. I threw some gum away, and I just went in my room now and I saw gum on my bed and the floor. My dog got to it, and I think she may have eaten some. Do you think it could be harmful? Thank for your answers.

She's 1/2 rotweiler and 1/2 lab. She's spunky, playful, likes to lick you (face, hands, feet), she loves people especially kids, and she's soooo cute. I was thinking of the names Aaliyah, Mariah, Caelyn (kay-lynn)... but those names do not quite fit her and the first two are famous artists. I'm stumped!! Her picture is up so you can see her. Hopefully someone will see her and come up with a name for her.

neutered male, maltese mix, has slept in my bed since a puppy.

Why would he start peeing now? And in his own bed too. I thought they wouldn't do that.

Any time anyone walks down the street past my house, my dog charges the fence barking her head off untill they are way down the street. I know she is just protecting her territory but it dosnt matter if they are walking in the street or even accross the street. If you try getting her while she is doing it she seems like she dosent see or hear you. If I punish her make her come inside tell her shes bad and make her lay down, the next time you let her out shes doing it again. Please help Im frustrated with it all.

Our dog submissevly urinated after we got her, she stopped it, and then we had her spade (spelling?) (fixed), following that she got a bladder infection, after taking her medication, it stopped for a while, now the problem is getting worse, the dog is terrified of me (a male) and almost everytime i try to take her outside she pees, now its getting worse, she will squat in the middle of an activity (as in doing it on purpose) and urinates, then she immediately runs away because she knows she's in big trouble.....we will be moving into a new house in a month or two and cannot have this, any advice?

biting her nails on her front paws. They are spliting and look horrible. she also has them very short, and when I look at them she pulls them away like they hurt or are sore. Is there a reason that she is doing this and how can I stop it, is their a supplement or something that I can give her to make them healthier?? Please any help is appreciated, I am worried that she is going to make herself bleed, espically if I am at work I don't want anything to happen to her...
Oh and she will be 4 years old in March, and this just started happening with in the last 2 months. She is a mixed breed sheapard, husky and wolf... Please any suggestions??

I have a young (approx. 1 year old) lab mix that we rescued. He tested positive for heartworms but does not show symptoms yet. The cost for treatment is going to run about $500 plus 6 weeks of kennel confinement. I've heard of and have found a few natural treatments online, but am trying to decide if they are worth it. Has anyone else tried any of these? We've decided to go ahead with the vet's treatment, but I'm just looking for possible alternatives.

Thanks, Mrs. N.

I need help here. I have two westie terriers. Both female. The oldest is 8. The other is 1. Zoey ( the younger ) has been here for almost a year. Recently, they have started fighting. Viscious fighting. The kind of fighting that leaves one or both bloodied. I can't find a common denominator. It seems as if one looks at the other the wrong way. The other growls and they charge each other. Usually, I can catch one before they get to each other. Sometimes not, as I have no idea what sets them off.

I understand the whole one needs to be the alpha dog and the other needs to be the beta dog. Unfortunatley, it seems they both want to be the alpha and that just isn't going to set the envirnment for peaceful coexistance.

Has anyone found a way to socialize two dogs or have any ideas on what I can do?
