my puppy does the same thing. It seems like my puppy thinks that squeaky toy is a live animal. He goes crazy when he hears the squeaky sound

I have two Malamute pups that do the same thing. All they are doing it talking back to the toy. Since it is making noise, they feel that they should too.
If your pup is acting afraid of the toy, then there is another problem going on. Try to gauge her reaction when it squeaks. If she has her ears up and tail wagging, then she is playing with it and enjoying herself. If her ears are back, tail tucked and head down, then she does not like the toy but is still trying to figure out what is going on.

If it hurts her, eventually she would learn to avoid that toy. Give her some alternative, un-squeaky toys to play with.

More likely, she is playing with the toy and thinks she's supposed to "squeak" back at it.

Maybe something in her mouth is hurting her when she bites down or the squeaky sound is hurting her ears? She could also just like to do it.

It could be her way of playing, or the squeak could hurt her ears, which causes howlng.
