I have a english cocker, he is 9 years old and looks is great shape, but I'm concerned about him aging. I want him to live and be close to me as much as possible, he is my baby. Does anybody had a english/american cocker? How long did your cocker survive?

I had a cocker and he was with us for 15 years, just remember to take him regularly to your vet, check for lumps, how he walks, and his expression this tells you a lot, how he feels, if he's in some sort of pain or happy.
Check also the way he breathes, if he breathes normally or with difficulty.
Keep in mind that life ends some time or another, and the way you take care of him will be the life quality he will have much older.
Play a lot with him, pet him and fully enjoy all this years you will have with him which i hope will be many, many years.

just keep it healthy. Try giving the dog fruit and veggies as treats instead of the comercial ones. Lots of exercise too! make sure you check the dogs body once a week for lumps, bumps and any abnormalities. Clean the dogs ears every two to three months with a cotton wool ball dipped in mineral oil but just clean the ear flaps. Also brush your dogs teeth every day or two days. Use special dog toothpaste and brush because gum disease is much more common in dogs.
One of my neighbours has a 12 year old dog who developed skin cancer and normally dogs that age wouldn't be allowed to be operated on but my neighbours are health nuts and exercise and look after the dogs very well and the dog was able to have surgery because it was so healthy! Otherwise he would have just been put down!

I think at least 15 years or a little more. You should make sure he has a diet that keeps him fit but not over weight. This could vary by how much activity he gets. Take good care of his teeth and get regular vaccinations and he should live a long life.

Fortunately they tend to be a long lived breed - 16 to 18 years is quite common. As others said, feed him healthy food and exercise him every day. They really are darlings and the only other breed in my heart, beside Great Danes.

I had a cocker when I was younger. She died of cancer. You should keep your dog in shape, watch what he eats, and take him for check ups. Best of luck.

15~20years. It will live longer if you take good care of it, take it to the vet to have a check up at least once a year.
