Hi, I have a wonderful, adorable 6month old little boy, Chihuahua. It is very cold here so I haven't been able to train him to go potty outside so we are using those ridiculous puppy pads. He doesn't tend to always use them, he randomly pees and poos other places. I praise him when he does go on the pad and try to catch him and pick him when he doesn't. Any helpful hints?

He gave her a shot of vitamin K, and gave me a prescription for 60mg vitamin per day for one week. He did a blood test at the office, and is sending out more blood for a CBC (I think). My question is, is it necessary to give her the high dose for so long, the blood test in the office came out fine. We should know the results of the 2nd test by late tomorrow, or monday. Is it necessary to get the full prescription, or could we just give her another shot tomorrow. As of right now, she's running around as normal. No unusual behavior at all. She weighs 50 lbs.

Alot of people here are talking about breeding their dogs. Then they surely must know the following and be able to answer me.
What is pack drive, what is prey drive, what is defense drive, what is fight drive, what are instinctive behaviors, what are learned behaviors? What is the difference between prey and fight drive? What is the difference between temperament and drive? And finally, which of these behaviors does your dog have in BALANCE with the others that you want to pass alone?

I was thinking abut getting a Labrador but I have a Chihuahua and a cat. I know Labs are timid dogs. But will my Chihuahua take this okay. She is still young and gets along with some dogs. I just don't want to stress her out. I have introduced her to a black lab but she constantly barked at it. But that lab was grown not a puppy. What do you think?

I got my Sheltie this bone that almost looks like a hollow cow spine or something and she loves it! However, she is eating it preety fast and my Mom said it could be bad for her. There are also are hooves, pig snouts (yuck!), rawhide bones filled with different flavors and so forth. I read that plain old rawhide are the only safe bones but my dogs don't like them! And what about bones from the butcher? Also, are the "new" greenies safe? I gave one to my dog for her weight category (which was really small) and she ate it within 5 minutes! She didn't "gulp" it though which I guess was part of the problem. Are they really digestable or only partially? HELP!

I have replaced fencing and covered it with a metal mesh, but he's figured out a way to rip that off. I then added a 2X6 poly decking material to the susceptible places, but now he's ripping into other sections. He won't be able to get out now but he's destroying my fence.

Now that the really cold weather has started how do you exercise your dog when it's below 10 degrees or so? Sweaters and booties from pet retail chains haven't really cut it for my dog, he still shivers and runs back inside. Any suggestions?

She is beginning to yelp when she gets up and when she walks or tries to go up the stairs. She's part lab, so maybe just a hip problem. However, we are also beginning to notice she has large bumps or bulges, large enough I can cup my hand around them - a large one behind one of her front leg and one in front of one of her back legs.

We've had him for 2 and a half years and although he's been trained and knows he should go outside, from time to time we wake up to find he's had an "accident" inside the house.

Ok, so I have a beautiful 4 month old Shih Tzu named Charlotte. Today, while playing with a toy (about her size), she mounted it and started humping it. I thought they only did that when they were older. Is it normal for a puppy so young to start humping? How can I tell if she's in a heat??
