Average Life Spans:
Small breeds (1 - 20 pounds) - 12 - 14 years
Medium breeds ( 21 - 50 pounds) - 10 -12 years
Large breeds (51 - 90 pounds) - 8 - 10 years
Giant breeds ( over 90 pounds) - 7 - 8 years
Oldest recorded age for a dog: 29 years
There are other factors to take in to consideration, like whether your dog is overweight and what kind of diet he's on. Also, mixed breeds tend to live longer than purebred dogs. Neutered and spayed dogs live longer than intact dogs. Dogs that are vaccinated and have preventive vet care live longer. A lot of love and attention can also increase a dog's life expectancy.

That's a tough question to answer as it depends on a lot a variables such as the breed of dog, size and health of the dog over its life. Other things such as genetic issues can also have an impact. I have found as a general rule after owning dogs for many years that assuming they are healthy, the smaller the dog the longer their life span. Bigger dogs such as Great Danes & Irish Wolf Hounds tend to not live as long (~9-10 years) while smaller dogs can live in excess of 15 years. I once owned a Scottish Terrier that lived to be 20. As always, there are dogs that are an exception to the general rule. I would recommend visiting the AKC website as they have links to vaious breed websites where they provide information about the breed. Ask your vet based on their experience and also contact a local breeder to see what their experience has been. The problem with a mix breed is that you cannot always be sure what traits she received from each breed. As long as your dog is healthy (not knowing why she has lost all of her teeth), your vet might be able to give you some info based on your dogs past health.

It depends on the dogs breed and how it is cared for. Genetics is the most important factor. Small dogs tend to live longer than large dogs. Some dogs live into their 20's but this is rare. For most dogs 12 - 15 years is a long life.
Believe it or not mutts actually live the longest; their genetics are the most diverse so they are less likely to have genetic defects. There are some dogs that are lucky to live 5 - 7 years because they are so big and inbred (rare breeds tend to have poor genetics.)

There is no way to accurately tell. That would depend on her life as a whole. How healthy, problems, genetics. If we knew when our time was up.....hummm. You can go by a standard of around 12-14 years, however my grandmothers chicuahua lived to be 20. There is no right answer for this question. Sorry hun. Enjoy the time you have now with your puppy!

Smaller breeds tend not to live too long. But this isn't always the case. Some small dogs live 15+ years. you can't really ever go by the book. Health and genetics play an important role. If you know the breeder or parents of your dog, you could go by how long they lived. i hope your doggie has many more happy days!

Larger dogs live shorter lives than smaller dogs. Very small dogs like toy poodles and such can live to around 17 years. Larger dogs (over 80 pounds) tend to live about 10 to 12 years.

It depends on so many things. The breed, quality of life. On average, most dogs live to be around 12-15. Some don't live as long as that and some live longer. Smaller breeds tend to live longer than larger breeds.

My chihuahua lived to be 15 and to me that wasn't long enough. She lost all her teeth too.I had to mash chop dice and stir all her food. Then she just got to where she only wanted cottage cheese with mushy puppy chow.Just love her and don't worry about the day she goes, pray she just goes to sleep. That's how my girl went---peacefully.
