You're tipping for the service. If you like the service you're getting and your dog's clip, doesn't make a difference if the groomer owns the salon or not.

Proper tipping is gesture of appreciation for services rendered. But figuring what gratuity is appropriate can be complex.
General rule of thumb, you do not tip the owner of an establishment. ie dog groomer, hair dresser barbor etc. you do however tip those that work for them. (Even though the owners may disagree) They are the ones collecting on the services provided. However, if you feel the owner did an outstanding job, there is no reason a show of graditude cannot be given, be it monatary or gift.
The amount of the tip depends on the services rendered. Tipping is not mandatory. I for one have no problem showing my dissapointment for bad service (and I mean it has to be BAD and I will leave less than 5%). Yet on the other, I am very generous with great service (and will leave up to 50%). Some places make the servers/employees "share" tips. This is to cover those who are not great service providors. (that sucks) You would like to think someone who provides poor service would get the hint and change their ways.

I have been going to the same groomer with various dogs for over twenty years. She does a great job and even better, the dogs love her and she is wonderful with them. If you find a good groomer that your dog likes, I think it's worth a few extra dollars!

each Petsmart is going to be diverse. some have magnificent groomers, some do not. I used to artwork in Petsmart grooming and our salon manager replaced into educated by technique of a coach groomer. She is a best groomer and takes tremendous pride in her artwork. Then on the turn facet there are terrible hack jobs that ensue yet Petsmart GUARENTEES your pride and could restore something and each thing that you've an difficulty with. So please, for the millionth time, in simple terms because the only keep you presented your canines to sucked, would not recommend all of them do. there are thousands of groomers who artwork for Petsmart in this usa. and most of the 'inner most groomers' that anybody recommends human beings visit actually are castoffs of Petco/Petsmart grooming. they don't have any guidelines and they don't ought to do something to soothe you. in case you want to hit upon a good groomer than ask round your section, do not in simple terms leap on the 'inner most is extra ideal than company' bandwagon like anybody else. ETA: And sure, Petsmart does shave canines commonly. notwithstanding that is not because that is extra common, that is because it truly is a lot less discomfort for the canines. If a canines can actual be brushed out without causing discomfort to the canines then for sure they could do what they could. yet when an proprietor won't be able to save on correct of brushing their canines, why could the groomer torture the undesirable aspect for 2 hours brushing out terrible mats?

It is customary in the US to tip for services beyond the typical restaurant server (which is suggested to be 15-20% for that). Usually for things like pizza delivery, hair stylists, and dog grooming, 10% is considered acceptable for an adequate job. Ofcourse, if they do a really good job, and you intend to use them again, it's always nice to up the tip a little. In the service world, big tippers are always remembered and will usually get even better taken care of the next time around.

I don't tip people with a private business. They are making almost 100% profit. If I go to petsmart or somewhere like that, I tip b/c the groomer is paid hourly.

I treat it just like the hair salon. If it is the owner, then no tip. Someone else, then I tip them 10 - 20%.

I guess you could - if you are pleased with it! It is up to you. If you intend to go again, I suppose it would help build a friendly rapport. You don't have to tip much, just a token gesture will do
