My dog is a digger, so I put some of his poop where he digs, and he will not go near there anymore. Somehow it really does work. If you dont want to, maybe try sprinkling black pepper around the area. If neither work, you may have to invest in an electric system to mildly shock him as he leaves the perimeter

Experiment with some other chew options for the dog until you find something it likes to chew more than your fence. Also, what's on the other side of the fence? It may have less to do with the fence being highly "chewable" and more to do with getting to whatever is awesome and cool (to the dog) on the other side. Dogs can be highly determined when they really want something. My last shepherd pulled cabinet doors (which were tied shut) off to get at the garbage.
Also, chewing can be a nervous behavior. Is the dog getting enough exercise? Just putting them outside doesn't always guarentee that. Perhaps it's a question of the dog having a lot of pent up energy that it's releasing through the chewing. Cooped up border collies will dig through carpets and chew through table legs if they aren't exercised enough.

You may have to invest in a regular metal fence which you could put in your wooden fence if you like your wooden fence. You could also invest in a kennel. Or you could look into those invisible fences. Unfortunately, all three are expensive but worth it for your dog's sake. In the meantime, could you put it on a runner?

Yeah ummmm, to answer your gripping question, ad put some really nasty spray stuff that has a very distict taste of Pi$$. And i that dont work, you could always get a shock collar and about an hour. That would stop me if i was the dog.

WOW! What kind of dog do you have? Have you tried catching him in the act, then punishing him? Also - you can purchase "chew deterrents" from the pet store. They leave a nasty taste in your dogs mouth, and they don't want to go near what they were biting again! I'm not sure if they have weather-proof ones, though. That's all I could think of. Good luck!

they have a spray called bitter(or biter, not sure) apple spray in the pet aisle at any store. Spray the fence with that. He wont like the taste and should stop chewing.

Your dog is bored and is entertaining itself. Why don't you entertain your dog?
