VET VISIT!! that is the only way to know for sure! He should be at least 8 weeks old before they goto a new home! If he is only a couple of weeks he should be bottle feed. You really need to find out how old the puppy is and make a vet visit

First, get a warm water bottle(your can use a zip loc bag if you have to) and wrap in a towel. Put the pup inside the towel. This will start to warm the pup up without over heating it. Next, if it is truely that age, it should NOT be away from mama. But, you can go to your vets office or maybe even petco, etc... and buy a milk specifically for puppies. Do not give cows milk or baby formula. This will upset the puppies stomach. I would swing by a local vets office & have the front desk people tell you what type of puppy it is and how old. They work with animals all day & will be able to assist you. They can also give you products to help you transition and information to make sure the puppy stays healthy.
For now, due to parvo, keep the puppy off the dirt or out of public places(don't put on the ground anywhere public).

Ah, the gifted pet. Sadly, many pets that were given as gifts end up in shelters. I hope that you find room for your new joy in your home.
As far as the shaking, what kind of dog is it? It could be a nervous habit that the breed is known for. It could also be that the dog is still getting used to his/her environment and is a little scared. I am sure its nothing to worry about unless it has other symptoms.
If you feel you dont know what to do with a dog now that you have it, call your local vet and talk to them. They will give you advice on how to raise the puppy and what all you will need to do it. There are also books out there, but a call to the vet will give you just as much information.
Good luck and I hope your new dog makes you and your family very happy!

If it's " a couple of weeks old" give it back. It is way to youing to ne away from mom. What was this person thinking giving you a pup, to young, that you have no idea how to care for.
Start with a vet. A vet plays a big part in a dogs life. Have the vet check out the pup and give you tips on how to care for it. If you need to feed the pup milk do not use cow's milk, get a milk replacer from a pet food store. The pup needs to be kept warm. Really......if it is under 8 weeks old give it back. A pup should be with it's mom for 10-12 weeks .

If the pup is only a couple weeks old, it needs puppy formula asap. You'll need to feed it every 2-3 hours, around the clock.
Chances are it's around 8 weeks if it was a gift. But who the hell gives someone a puppy without making sure they WANT one first??? If you aren't ready to care for it, see if a local shelter (preferably a no-kill one) will take it and find it a good home.

Take it to the vet because he is brand new and they need shots within 8 weeks of being born. 90% of puppies that yound shake because they cant control their own temp very well and need to be warmed to the point to where you would almost be uncomfortable because of the temp. Keep him warm and take him to the vet. Try dry dog food soaked in warm water for about 5 min. Get the water to where it ALMOST covers the food and let it sit for 5 and then stir and then put it on a plate, smash it with a spatula and let him eat. Also, goats milk mixed 50% warm water and 50% milk needs to be fed to him either as the food or along with the food as a hydration method. use water also if poss. In the end, he needs to go to the vet regardless

Hi! Every one is telling you to bring your pup to the vet,of course you should, but I'm positive that the pup is shaking because he is scared. My boyfriend gave me a boston terrier pup for christmas, and the first day he was petrified.by boxing day,he was running around and terrorizing like normal puppies do.
Bring your new pup to the vet(with a stool sample) just to be sure he's not sick, but he's probably just scared, going to a new home is alot for a baby to deal with.
If your puppy is less than 6 weeks old then you will have a major problem, and you need to go to emergency vet.Pups arn't supposed to leave there mother until 8 weeks,But some people send them out early.

6 days ago you posted you were looking for a pet...now today someone gives you one and you aren't ready? Depending on the breed - some dogs just shake. Regardless of whether or not you asked for this dog - it is your job to love him and care for him until you find him a new home. When you take it to the vet today, ask if you can put up an ad on their board

Weren't you just looking for a new puppy a few days ago?!?!
This puppy is WAY TOO YOUNG. Ask the gifter where the mother is located and try to reunite them until the puppy is ready to be weaned and you are more prepared!
If you cannot locate the mother, or she rejects the puppy....PLEASE either take the time to properly care for him or take him to the shelter.

First take him or her to a vet for a check up...The shaking might be a sign that he or she is scared and needs to be held...Hopefully all is well with the pup after your vet visit and than you can love your dog..
Don't panic, got to a vet asap........
