Driving home tonight, a dog bolted out of his house into the street in front of my car. I slammed on the brakes, but I could not stop quick enough and I hit the dog. The family (mom, dad, 2 young kids) was there at the time and they scooped up the 7 month old dog and zipped off to the vet's. I was so shaken up that I was still there crying when the family returned about a half an hour later. I apologized over and over but I still feel terrible. They understood it was an accident, that the dog ran out of the house, but I just feel so bad. What else can I do?

I have a one year old yorkshire terrier. Tonight he has started to scratch his ear and shake his head quite a bit. I checked inside it the best I can and I don't see anything out of the ordinary. What could possibly be bothering his ear?? He scratches to the point he is crying now. Is there something I can do for him to get him through the night till the vet opens in the morning??

I have a pomeranian, she was found stray by my boss. The vet says she is about 11 years old. She has always been a happy energetic dog considering her age. We also have a young golden retriever and they play together. Lately my pom wimpers when she runs up the stairs like it hurts her and holds up a leg, but when we touch her legs she is fine. Could it just be joint pain due to her age?

I have a 5 year old long haired chihuahua. We recently got a new long haired chihuahua and are feeding her Science Diet Growth. My 5 year old will eat nothing but her food. We do not have a regular feeding schedule. The food stays out all the time. They do not over eat but my 5 year old is gotten really fat. He has been eating it for about 6 months now. He has also always has skin problems but sence he has been eating the growth food, he hasnt had any problems. Is it ok if he continues eating to Science Diet growth until it is time for the baby to switch to Maintence formula (about 5-6 more months).

Was I in the wrong to get rid of the dog?
We have three cats, a lab and a chincilla not to mention fish. We live in a double wide trailer in a trailer park. We have two children 5 yr and 3 mon. My mom lives her with us. That makes a total of five people and 5 animals. I run a daycare during the day. With five children in it. They are here from 7-5 every day m-f. I work third shift three days a week. First shift saturday. Plus go to college full time two days a week. My fiance doesn't do anything. He just got a new job doing snow plowing but it hasn't snowed yet. I pay all the bills and provide everything for the children. My mom watches our children while i work and go to school and the daycare kids too. She takes our daughter to school in the morning and picks her up too. Even though her dad has nothing to do he doesn't do it. He usually leaves making up something to do. And is gone 75 percent of the time. Doing what ever. And yesterday he brought home a puppy. He didn't ask me if I wanted one. He just brought it here ...

I have 2 black labs. Ive read that they have weather resistant coats. They are outside dogs and have dog houses with straw in them for warmth. Are they are okay at night when it is in the twenties?

Some of you will recall that last week I posted a question about my 2 neighbors and their absurd breeding dreams. Well, it was a nice day yesterday, so I let my pups run in the yard while I was at my kids school for a couple hours... when I came back, T-Bone was running loose, the gate was open. I *always* check my gate... it was Definitely closed and latched before I left.
And he had white fur all over him. Great Pyrenees white fur... I'd BET on it.
What it comes down to is my dirtbag neighbor let T-Bone loose to romp with his Great Pyrenees b i t c h in heat... then didn't even bother to lock him back in the yard.
I *know* T-Bone needs to be neutered, but I will not go behind my husbands back to do so. He has to agree.
Is there any legal recourse I can take here? Not only did he use my dog against my express wishes, but he left him roaming free! What can I do?

My dog has a hot spot on her face. I shaved the area and noticed a dark spot next to it that looks like a melanoma. I've got an appointment with the vet, but the earliest they had was next Tuesday. Anyone have experience with this type of thing? She keeps scratching it even after I put Benadene (an over-the-counter hot spot medication) on it. Any suggestions? I'm worried because she keeps scratching it and it keeps opening up and bleeding.
Thanks for your help.

I have a German Sheppard/Labrador mix. She's about 9 months old. She HATES to come inside, but I live in the Midwest and it's gotten as cold as 7 degrees here, at night. She has a great dawg house and hay inside, but it is REALLY cold. When is it too cold for her to be outside??

I have had her since she was 10 weeks old and worked with her all this time yet when she gets outside she is so hyper and excited that she will not remember to go to the bathroom even if we are out for hours at a time. As soon as she runs in the house she pees and poops on the wee wee pad. If that is not there she will just go right on the floor. She is now 8 months old and I am getting scared that I will never be able to train her. The poor thing is confined to my kitchen because I have carpet all thoughout the rest of my house. When I let her roam around I have to be right next to her to make sure she does not go on the carpet. I am at the end of my rope - I have tried everything the all the manuals say, it is just not working. Will she ever learn? And do they stay extemely hyper forever? I love her but I am constantly yelling "no no no" to her. I am at the end of my rope here. I feel so guilty for yelling at her all the time. Thanks for any suggestions.
