Depends on the size of the dog, the age of the dog, whether it's a routine neuter or a cryptorchid (retained testicles), etc, etc.....
Assuming you're talking about a male, anywhere from 5-20 minutes for the surgery itself. (Usually around 7 unless it's a cryptorchid.) Preanesthesia exam, anesthesia induction, and prep time add about 10-15 minutes. They usually go home the same afternoon when they are done in the morning. Cryptorchid neuters are often kept overnight and released the next morning.
ETA: It's a much more involved surgery than a man's "snip" btw. For men, it's a simple matter of cutting and tying off the ends of the vas deferens (the tube that carries the semen.) They don't remove a man's testicles the way we do in dogs, which is called a bilateral orchiectomy.

it takes about 15 mins, i know this because i used to work in a vets and saw this operation done many times. It is a very simple operation. The dog will be in for the rest of the day and will have to go and have a check afterwards. Females take 45 mins.

it depends on the doctor and the facility but anywhere in the range of 15 minutes to 30 minutes...neuters are much quicker because they do not actually go into the abdomen to remove the genitals. Spay are much more involved, in turn, taking longer for surgery. Hope this helps!

My vet can do one on a chihuahua in about 15-20 min. Would be maybe 30 on a larger dog.

well if it only takes 15 minutes for a man to have the snip i'm sure it won't take much longer for a dog......bitches and spaying is much more complex and will take much longer....
