Yes, they should be fine if they are already outside dogs like you say. Mine refuses to come inside when it's cold, I have to go and wrangle her.

As long as the dog houses are insulated they should be ok. The straw however is not moisture resistant. You should get some moisture resistant pads to put in the dog houses- this will help to keep them warm and dry- this is very important to making sure they dont lose body heat. You can get lambwool crate and dog house pads at any petsupply website. Also make sure there is some kind of flap over the opening to protect them from wind/rain etc. Hope they stay warm and toasty.

i would agree to bring them in...and also i think when they say weather resistant...it means rain kind of slides off the coat and same with snow...they do have a double layered coat but not like a husky or malamute. I would bring them inside when it is below freezing and if you do decide to keep them outside put a doggy door or something on the front of their house to protect from the blowing winds and snows.

They do NOT have weather-resistant coats. they have WATER resistant coats. Labs do get cold, very cold! Being short-haired makes it easier for them to get cold. I would strongly suggest insulating the doghouses, adding a windbreaker wall, and maybe even adding a lightbulb to the top to generate heat inside for them. I even threw in an old comforter on top of the hay to make sure.

Is that 20f?they'll be fine. they were bred to retrive fish nets in cold north atlantic water. Also if they were outside in the fall and slowly got used to cold weather they'll handle it better. If you just decided to put them outside after having them in the house most of the time, they won't handle it too well. You have to slowly adjust them to it so they can build up thicker fur. Besides I keep mine outside in a insulated dog house when it's -30c

Would you want to sleep outside when it's in the twenties? Bring the poor dogs in.

i wouldnt but thats just me. especially once they get about 7-8 years old, big dogs are prone to arthritis which can be painful in the cold. you cant put them in a big pet taxis in the house at night? below freezing weather is too cold.

most will say it might be best to bring them during the night but their coat should keep them okay. but just to be safe you might want to bring them on really cold nights.
