My husband took our 12 year old boxer to our local vet because he was not using his back foot/leg. We thought maybe he had broken or sprained it. They did x-rays and they diagnosed him with cancer/tumor of the hip joint. Duke has a really hard time getting up, walking..etc This has come on so sudden. Does this usually happen? Anyway, they have him on pet morphene pills to ease the pain. It seems to have help a little with the pain, but he so weak and having a hard time moving. We're having to guide him here and there, sometimes carry him. He hasn't cried but maybe once a little when we were trying to lay him back down on his bed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm not shying away from putting him down, but I don't want to make a mistake and regret it later. I guess I'm just needed some support. Thank you for listening and for any responses.

Please people, I'm not really looking for an excuse to crop my pit puppies' ears, the thing is that they have been "FIGHTING" every now and then lately. I know the difference of puppy play and biting their ears, and when they're ACTUALLY fighting and biting themselves trying to ripp their ears and skin (they actually have some cuts already). I mean they're both only 3.5 months old, and when they fight all I do is try to separate them 'n then I yell at them(trying to discipline them) but I don't even know if it really works because they continue doing it. I want to crop their ears now because I can't predict the future or what's going to be like when they grow up and get stronger teeth. Maybe an advice on discipline will help...They're both very good friends..but it's just the problem when they start fighting for any toy or treat...I don't want them to hurt me and themselves no more when I try to separate them by them biting me or them biting eachother

Is it ok to feed a 15 week old chihuahua puppy, Royal Canin Chihuahua 28, or is it still too young? I think I read on the bag that they have to be 6 or8 months old before you should start them on this, unless I misunderstood.

I'm serious. I would love to get one, but I heard they smell weird. How about beagles?

I'm trying to find a breed of a big dog. I wish I had a picture to post of it but I don't. It is a good size dog, kind of looks like it would be a giant Boston Terrier, it has that same type of roundish head that the BT has. Wish I could describe it better, but if anyone has any suggestions or idea of what I'm talking about, please pass it on. Thanks.

My Walker Hound has a very bad odor and rashes on her legs. My neighbor said her vet once gave her pills for her dog that had the same problem but she doesn't remember what the medicine was.

Any ideas?

Since the winter month has finally arrived, my lab has started shedding really bad. I give him a bath about once every 2 weeks. I need suggestions on how to reduce his shedding.

I posted a quest. in regards to the appearance of a pit bull with cropped ears. The thing is that now I actually have a reason to do so, my puppies have been fighting (or even if they don't) they start pulling their ears and biting them as well. I don't really want them to cut off their own ears when they get older and get stronger teeth...

It barked from 7am in the morning (when the owners left) till 7pm at night..

I asked the neighbours to keep it quiet, but they did nothing..

So yesterday I waited till the owners had gone out, then I climbed in through a spare window - the dog attacked me mauling my left arm, I had little choice but to shoot it in the face..

The police came around this morning and asked if I'd heard anything - I said not, but I'm not sure they were convinced..

I also think the old woman who's house backs onto ours might have seen seomthing...

Should I pay her "a visit"? Or hope for the best?

thanks

Concerned American..

my name is kerry im 13 yrs old and i really want my own puppy. i think i am responsible enough to get one because i mainly look after the cats (5 yr and 9 yr) and i also look after the dog (Ozzy is 11, king ch. spaniel) and even though i grew up with him, i really want my own puppy! i walk Ozzy 2 times per day for 20 mins (before school) and then 50 mins (after school/before bed). i also brush him everyday and bath him once every month or 2.
i get very good grades in my report (usualy always B+ or higher) and i am very comitted to school.
i have researched 4 breeds that i am intrested in: bichon frise, samoyed, rottweiler or maltese.
i know alot about all the breeds and i have looked up registered ,reputable breders in our city.
i have saved all my money for 2 yrs and i now have $963 in my bank acount to spend on the pup.
i told mom she doesn't need to pay for ANYTHING but she still seems hasty.
what else can i do to convince mom?
BTW, she is a single mom with me and 10 yr son.

me and my family are going to, maybe, be taking a trip to cedar point. if we went to cedar point then we'd have to do something with our 3 dogs. and we wouldnt be able to afford bording them up. and i already know how im gunna keep them. we would most likely put like a tarp up over the porch and then put like dog beds outside and give them plenty of water and all that.. the only problem is the feeding. they eat 2 times a day and if we were gone no body would be able to feed them. so i was wondering if any of you guys had any ideas on how they could get fed??

My pommie is 2 yrs old and weighs about 10 lbs. For the past 3 days he's had loose stool so I called the vet to get an appointment yesterday and they said he may have just got into something, to let it run it's course since otherwise he's acting perfectly normal. So that was the plan, then about 30 minutes ago he started having bloody stool.

I'm going to take him in first thing Monday but until then I'm wondering what I can do to settle his stomach. I know some people give Pedialyte to there dogs and that's safe but I can't figure out how much to give him. Should I go by the baby weight chart?

She also rolls around back and forth on her back on the living room carpet. It is December and cold (for Florida) so it can't be fleas, so what could it be?
