It barked from 7am in the morning (when the owners left) till 7pm at night..
I asked the neighbours to keep it quiet, but they did nothing..
So yesterday I waited till the owners had gone out, then I climbed in through a spare window - the dog attacked me mauling my left arm, I had little choice but to shoot it in the face..
The police came around this morning and asked if I'd heard anything - I said not, but I'm not sure they were convinced..
I also think the old woman who's house backs onto ours might have seen seomthing...
Should I pay her "a visit"? Or hope for the best?
thanks
Concerned American..

if some of you actually used common sense rather than not jump to stupid idiotic conclusions. why would you kill a dog? what benefit could you recieve? and most likely you would be caught... where would the owners go to first?.... you most likely my friend. i think you are just lying to gain attention. if you actually asked a decent question i would be happy to answer it.
rural diva- you truly are so stupid. do you honestly believe a person who would kill a dog... would then confess on a internet forum.
shahara- if that really is your pic, then i would like to say you are quite beautiful. however you should not be so easily decieved.

First of all, I don't think you had any right to trespass onto your neighbor's property without their permission. As far as the dog attacking you goes, YOU invaded HIS territory. That dog had every right in the world to protect his home from your unwanted intrusion. Trespassing onto someone else's property to do something to their animal is not only unlawful; it's absolutely horrid and entirely immoral. What you should have done was to contact Animal Control or a related establishment and file a complaint with them regarding the dog and your effort to work with your neighbors (by telling them that the dog barked and you didn't appreciate it). Animal Control would have then looked into it and possibly classified the animal as a nuisance and may have even taken it off the property if the problem continued. That would have been the lawful thing to do. But as far as your chosen course of action went, I suggest that you leave everyone else in your neighborhood alone; I hope you do get caught and prosecuted for your crimes, and I most DEFINATELY hope that you don't own any animals of your own. If you do, I feel terribly sorry for the abuse they must suffer at your hand.

I doubt he'd be put down considering his breed. People attribute JRTs as being cute and cuddly, so the ignorant masses in court would have a hard time convincing the judge and jury that JRTs are vicious. If it was a larger dog breed with a bad reputation such as a pit bull type dog, there would be a higher chance of it being put down. It wouldn't be FAIR seeing as the dog can't help its breed and it is only acting like ANY OTHER DOG would, but it could possibly happen in court since so many people in the courtroom are uneducated when it comes to dogs and only go by what they see on TV. So in short, I wouldn't worry about your dog being put down. The rabbit was on your property anyways. If anything, the other people could get in trouble for neglecting to look after the rabbits and make sure they were safe from harm. When you see your neighbors, tell them what you told us. That your dog killed your rabbit and you are saddened by it, but that you are also not at fault since you went the extra mile to prevent this from happening. If they fuss, you are not obligated to offer the cost of a new rabbit (nor do I think you should, seeing as they don't seem to be very good pet owners).

I'll bet you would go get a barking dog and bring it in to make it more comfortable. Give it a nice warm place to sleep and a couple of treats. Big barks..no bites..
A big teddy bear at heart???

Jesus, what had you intended to do with the dog when you broke in? I mean you went equipped with a gun ... were you just going to fire a warning shot? I think not. In the UK, you would be done for breaking and entering, carrying an offensive weapon and shooting a dog. Here I believe farmers can legally shoot dogs if the worry and kill their sheep but that's about it ... anything else is highly illegal. Oh the old woman who may have seen something .... pay her a visit ... what does that mean? Will you take your gun to see her as well? Personally, I think this is nagging you to death and I think you should come clean and take the rap that goes with it. No dog deserves to die just because it barks .....

I'm glad the police did not seem convinced. You are obviously from the USA, because of the crap you come out with, lets hope someone breaks into your house and shots you.
If the dog did hurt you, then I'm afraid that us dog lovers are glad.
Hope you rot in jail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I hope that they nail your *** for animal cruelty. I don't care if the dog was barking, you should have called animal control, not break into their house and then shoot the dog. Plus, the dog was just defending its home.
By the way, killing the dog is a felony in most states, and on top a breaking and entering, you are going to jail for a few years. Have fun being some guys *****!

so you committed criminal trespass, the dog reacted as any good watchdog should and you killed the dog. Your next criminal offense was lying to the police.I think that would be obstruction. what else ya got planned? Gonna knock over a convenience store
oh yes i nearly forgot-now you want to pay a"visit" to an elderly woman. what a real man you are you piece of ****. I hope you get caught and they prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law. if there is anyone who personally knows this miserable excuse for a human being please notify the authorities. There is an elderly woman whose life may be in danger. you really disgust me.
