The best solution, especially for the pups, would be to discipline them out of the ear-biting habit. The reason for ear-cropping in pits was to prevent the fighting dog's opponent from ripping the ears; that's the reason for tail docking in pits as well. But now it is just for cosmetic reasons--shows, etc. But you're not going to be showing them apparently, so just pure and simple training is the best way to go. And since they're pit bulls, you're going to have to start with very close training anyways.

It was called to my attention yrs.ago that some breeds develop
ears to a length that the wgt. of the ear will break down the small
bones at the juncture with skull & cause pain for them over time
comparable to an ear ache for you and I.
My advice would be to contact a vets office & establish whether
the cropped ears are a neccessity or merely cosmetic.
I've never seen a pit bull with long, heavy ears so my money has
to go with cosmetic or function as a" fighting "dog.

There is NO valid reason to crop their ears, it is painful for the dogs, there are hundreds of nerve endings in their ears. It sounds to me as you are just trying to justify a truly painful and barbaric procedure. In addition it is further obvious you are not prepared to be the leader of the pack with your dogs and provide them clear and concise training.
Puppies biting is part of their learning process. They will let each other know when they have bitten too hard. Any vet will also tell you that this is how they learn how hard they can or can't bite when they play.
I suggest you really think hard about this. Educate yourself more on puppy behavior so that you understand how puppies learn from their littermates and this is NORMAL behavior. A qualified breeder will know this.
They will not bite so hard as to cut off eachothers ears. You also need to educate yourself on training them. Otherwise you are going to have much larger problems than ears. Any owner who doesn't get proper training for their dog is
No self respecting American Pit Bull Terrier owner will NOT refer to thier dog a pit bull. There is no such thing dog as a 'pit bull' It is actually a catch all term for a pooryly bred fighting dog regardless of lineage. A "pit bull" may have strains of APBT, American Staffordhire Terrier, STaffordshire Bull Terier, Bull Terrier, Box, or combination thereof.
I suggest you buy the book.
The American Pitbull Terrier by Cynthia P. Gallagher
If you do not educate yourself on the breed, properly train your APBT's and socialize them then you are at best owning dogs that wil never reach their full potential and at worst it will spell disaster as you will have powerful, uncontrollable dogs who will never be the self confident and companion they were meant to be. The proud APBT owner trains their dog, knows how to be the leader of the pack, and provides clear and concise training and positive reinforcement. This breed can thrive with training that teaches them how to act to behave in the world with other dogs and humans. A dog owner who truly loves their dogs and the breed will do this.

All puppies do that. It is quite normal. I guess you are just looking for a reason justify the ear cropping. Either do it or don't, but if you want peoples approval, you need a better reason than that!!!!

The is no valid reason other than appearance. Dogs have ear flaps for a reason. To protect their ear canal. My dogs are all uncropped and perfectly healthy and beautiful.

That's how puppies play, they grow out of it when they get older. In my opinion, cropping ears is cruel and totally unnecessary.

Don't worry, they only play-bite on ears, they won't bite hard enough to do any damage, cropping ears isn't the nicest thing to do to pups.

Its a personal choice, so do it if you want to and quit looking for excuses but don't look for approval here because most people on YA object to any form of cropping or docking.
