ive been wanting a maltese puppy for awhile now and have been doing crazy research over the internet.

i came across an ad where a man said he was giving out a free maltese since his wife who cared for the puppy had died and he can no longer take care of it

the reason why i came into suspicion is that he is located in cameroon, in another country and i am located here in san jose, california..

what do you think?

I'm 10 years old, have a brother who's 15 and I LOVE DOGS! I basically live for dogs. it's long time tell I get a dog but I guess I just want to get ready, so can you tell me what kind of dog would fit my lifestyle?
OK well my mom works 4 days a week. She sleeps in the days (she works night shift) 9-3 but on Fri. she picks me up from school at 12. Usually on school days (besides Fri.) I get out at 3pm. I go to school at 8. My mom works on Fri. Sat., Sun., and Sometimes Mon. SO she has day-offs when I'm at school and can take care of the dog so it wont be alone. When I come I will probably look forward to walking the dog to the park (down the street) and I need a small dog because I want it to be an inside dog. I also want the dog to be friendly with humans and other dogs (MY neighborhood has lots of dogs, that i want it to be friendly with) I can supply all the food, care, and love it needs. O and I want a dog that doesn't get sick that often. Please tell me a what kind of dog, please!

I know the obvious choice is x-rays and a vet visit, but I'm not exactly wealthy. She's 3 years old, and she had FHO surgery on one hip at 6 months old. She just doesn't run as much as she used to, so I'm concerned.

When my cats come near the dogs food or water bowl she snaps or growls or chases them away. But if any people in the family touch, get near, touch her food or anything whiles she's eating, she acts neutral. In fact she seems content and happy we came to visit. I do remember as a puppy she would growl even if people came near her food. But she's 7 now and hasn't done that since she was a puppy. So I'm just curious what this means in terms of doggy psychology. Is this a "you're superior in the pack" thing or a "I trust you" thing, or something completely different.

Our beagle dog lives like a person inside our home as a family member, she obediently goes outside for the bathroom through her ***** door. She was home alone with our young poodle puppy this week and when we came home, the beagle seems to have injured her back legs, she winces when we try to pick her up, she cannot jump onto the bed or couch as she usually does. It seems to be worsening each day. Our family is low on extra money for vet, so we were observing for a few days and do plan on taking her to the vet on Monday, meantime are there any chronic beagle issues with the back legs? There are no visible wounds, the pain seems to transfer daily from one back leg to the other. When I carefully feel each of her legs there appear to be no known area of pain nor any swollen parts. She only cries out if we try to help her get up onto something. She occasionally limps but does favor one back leg then the other. Can we give her motrin or aspirin or something until monday?

How can I get my dog to stop a) following me everywhere and b) begging for food?

I can't leave the room without her or she'll sit there and whine and bark and scratch until I come back. I had company the other day, so I put her in my bedroom and closed the door. She barked, whined and dug/scratched for 2 whole hours!! Shes small, and I love her to death, but I am so tired of tripping over her or getting knocked down the stairs from where she thinks racing up them is a game.

She begs for food CONSTANTLY. We've changed her diet, tried ignoring her and everything. Nothing seems to work. She's been to a trainer 4 or 5 times now but ends up going back to her same old habits. I'll even put a few table scraps in her bowl and she still will sit almost literally right on top of me and beg! She will even take food off my plate!!!

Also, when she does pee, she squats and walks while peeing. Has anyone else seen this before? It seems a little weird to me since I have not had a dog in 15 years. Thanks for all the answers

We're gonna get 2 puppies soon and need names for them. I know the name should suit the puppy's looks and personality etc but I'm just looking for some names (for females and/or males) so that we have a greater choice. Do you have any names in mind?

i have a 7week old mix breed puppy that seems to have a extra claw on one of her back legs. Im just wondering could this be because she's a mix bread *mute*. And could this be any harm, its quite cute actually.

My 7wk. old male is really growing up the last 24hrs. Last night he staddled my lower leg and started to hump. I dont know if this is normal for a puppy at this age. I sure hope this is normal. I tell him No, pull him off, and distract him with a toy. Thank you!!

MY 7 wk. old daschund in "Playfully" nipping my toes and feet. When I tap him on the nose and say "No" its not working so far. I tapped him harder a few times but no success. He has nipped harder at me when I get his nose. I also dont want this to make him aggressive as he gets older. It breaks my heart when I do this but is there an easier and effective way out? Help.....I also want to thank everyone who helps people like me.
