If you have a tight budget, you can try the Hoover Whirlwind. I just got one because my Husky sheds huge amounts of hair and our regular vac just wasn't cutting it. The Hoover Whirlwind is working magic with the hair! It doesn't use bags, it has a filter and everytime you use it, you can see all the hair and dirt it picks up. It's amazing, sometimes there will be no trace of hair on the carpet and I'll vaccum, and it picks up all the hair that is deep into the carpet. My floors look so much cleaner and people that come over notice the difference!

Without a doubt the Dyson. We have the one made especially for pet hair and with two dogs it is the greatest thing. We have had ours for well over 5 years and not one problem. It is quiet, effective and no bags to change. I even use it to vacuume my lab with no problems.

I use a handheld vaccuum to clean up dog hair piles and/or dog messes on hardware floors, carpet, and tile. You can charge it with a base and recharge it, and just use it almost anywhere (cordless), just have to make sure you put it back on the base to recharge. It cost about 20-25 dollars and you can purchase it at Target, Walmart, Best Buy, almost anywhere.

Dyson makes a vac specifically designed for pet hair. It's the purple one. It's a bit pricey, but it's so worth it. It works wonderfully and does NOT lose suction! A friend of ours has had their for several years now and it works just as well today as the day they bought it (they have 3 hairy dogs).

Any good vacuum that is well cared for. I have 3 cats- and believe me, cat fur is as bad as dog, if not worse. But my Bissel upright bagless takes care of it. Also, I've heard good things about Dyson.

Good luck!
