Yes you should be suspicious. The puppy is probably quite old by now, seeing as it's had a previous owner. If it's owner died, it will be suffering from loneliness and maybe even depression. Also if no-one is really looking after it at the moment, it is missing out on the vital training it should be getting at this time in its life. If you do get this puppy, it will have problems, and naturally so will you, because you will be the one caring for the troubled puppy.
Another factor is bringing the puppy home. How do you plan to transport it from Cameroon to San Jose? It will cost you a lot of money to bring the puppy over on a plane, and only some airlines will allow this. Plus, it will be a very stressful experience for the puppy.
Overall, i don't think it's a very good idea. Try looking a bit closer to home. And always ask to visit before you agree on buying or accepting a dog, and always ask to see the mother and if possible the father of the puppy. Good luck!

Definitely be suspicious. It could be that the man is taking money to ship the dog and pocketing it. Why would a man in Cameroon want to give a dog away to a person in America? If it is because of his wife as he says, and the offer is legit, then he should pay the shipping charges and be checking to see the dog is going to a good home.
No. Sounds like another scam.

There's been a lot of people posting asking about this here. Yes, this is a scam. You send the money to ship and then never see the dog. Payment is usually requested via Western Union too.
Even if it were legit, which it's not, I wouldn't want to be shipping a dog that far. That would be a hard one for a puppy to do I imagine.
Run from this offer... by the time you pay proper shipping, you could be putting that to one from a reputable breeder in your area instead.

It is a scam, don't send any money, especially via MoneyGram or Western Union. Since looking for my dog, in the past month or two, I have gotten three separate e-mails.... I will respond with a different e-mail address and offer to buy the dog as well, and they will try to sell it to 'both of us'... If is from West Africa or Nigeria it is definately a scam unless you know the person, but remember, when you buy a pet this way it is BUYER BEWARE!!!

Have him ship him.
Maybe to someone's work location that is open 24 hours...
or to an address that is not your home address.
Be Careful, Sweetie.
Maybe keep checking here in the states.
Or....place an ad in craigslist.com.
It's a nationwide....want - sell site.
Good luck.

yes be suspicious you send him the money for the puppy's delivery costs and you get no puppy!
I was looking for an english bulldog and a woman was giving hers away for free I'd only have to pay for the shipping which was $300 from nigeria I said no way.

the dog wouldn't really appreciate the long distance travel...
on the other hand find out if Cameroon is a dog-eating country....if it is/ get him the hell out of there !!!
i'm sure he'd be glad for that and return the favour with a million licks....!!!
