I have just got a new sofa and armchairs and my 3 dogs seem to think I bought them for their sole use. I have covered them in throws to avoid muddy paws when I'm not there and I drape sheets of plastic over them at night but they pull it all off and I find the dogs asleep on the sofa in the morning or when I come home.

we have been told by many people that the pup will grow to love the crate, its been 6 weeks now and she still hates it. she only has to go in there when we are out, as she sleeps normally in our room or the spare room on the setee.

when we put her in there shes ok for 5- 10 mins then she starts going mad biteing the metal bars, tareing her bedding up, we were also told she would never mess in her crate wich she does regulary.
so i think im gonna give up with the crate, and get her a stair gate to section the kitchen off for her to see if she is any better in there. she is 5 months old and fully house trained apart from a few little accidents. she is a female lab, any advice please, as i dont think she is ever gonna get used to the crate, thank you.

My daughter is 7 and loves to play with animals (ex. wraping in blankets and treating like a baby ect.) We are thinking of getting a small pet for her but are unsure of a breed that is tolerant of small children and that our landlord will allow they have to be under 20lbs/

We live in a suburban area of Idaho and most homes here have horses, cattle, various livestock. One of our neighbors has a 7 yr. old pit bull that her son couldn't keep and she now has. He got away from the house the other day and attacked the neighbours mule, ripping the face severly and having extensive stitches, etc. It took 3 people to take the dog off the animal and after he was removed he attacked again (same incidence). The dog owner paid vet bills but the mule owner wants the dog out of the neighbourhood. The animal control came but did not remove the dog and the police came and told the 'mule owner' that the dog owner had put a restraining order on her not to contact the dog owner!! This seems unfair and now the whole neighbourhood is concerned about this pit bull. She says she will restrain him but no one believes her as she has other dogs that are a nuisance and owns 6 horses that she keeps on 1/2 acre and are poorly maintained. Any comments/experience/suggestions??

I just lost my boxer to Boxer Cardiomyiopothy-sorry for my spelling. She was one of two dogs. The other is a standard poodle. I just know that she is extremely lonely now that she doesn't have a friend to play with. I was thinking about another poodle or another boxer. But having another boxer scares me that my next one will only be with us for two years like the last one. If you have any information about any dogs that I could rescue or any organizations for either boxers or poodles that are in or near CO. that would be the biggest help! Thank you.

My husband doesn't like my 4 yr male old Jack Russell, he won't play with him unless I beg him to, He hates walking him and sometimes he has to cuz I'm pregnant and have mild sciatica. Evrything he does(ie bark, run around, get sick or vomit on the floor, etc) all dogs behaviors he goes crazy and has a fit! I am tired of it! I had my dog for 3 years b4 I ever met my hubby and don't plan on getting rid of him. I don't claim that my dog is perfect or wel trained but he isn't a menace either. Before me my husband really liked Pitt bulls which I won't let him have cuz I fear them and don't trust their temperament. I think he resents that so he takes it out on my dog. He tells me stories about how he raised his dogs in the past and do not agree with his practices, I find them harsh and unneccessary. He never forms the bond with his animals that my family does with ours. I treat my dog like my first child and he can't understand that. What can I do to mediate their relationship?

I have a 7 month old german shepherd and when he was a puppy his hair was all fuzzy and didn't shed at all. Now that he's becoming an adult and growing more hair he sheds alot more. I've lately noticed alot of hair gathering up in corners of his crate, and worse, the house. There are quite a few hairballs around.

I've never gave him a bath or brushed him before in his life. But yesterday I decided to clean him up a little. I didn't bathe him but I brushed for about 2 minutes and it got alot of hair. I would like to brush him more, and maybe try a bath soon.

But how often should/can I brush his hair to prevent massive dirty hairballs and stuff around the house? Also, how long should I brush him (when I do).

ive posted a question similar to this one, and nothing seems to work. ive tries walking him, but all he does is just sit there or lay down there for an hour. i tried teaching him inside, by watching him, and when he was about to pee, i transfered him to the pad. he continued to pee everywhere! finally i tried crate training, placing him in the crate after he ate, but all he does is cry, or try to get out... ughh, should i still even keep this puppy?
