To my knowledge there isn't a set age..

But you need to just remember if the child isn't old enough to be outside on the streets alone it doesn't make a difference if it has a dog with it or not.

A small child would likely not be prepared if the dog barked, growled, or became agressive to another animal or person. Or if it suddenly tried to chase something and tug away. The child might become scared or startled and put the dog or bystanders in danger.

If the child can't restrain the animal it is too young or too small to be out alone.

I would honestly say 8 would be a good age! But it also depends on the size of the dog and where you live.

If the kid can walk to school, it can probably take a dog for a short walk.

as long because of fact the canines proprietor is obeying the leash ordinance, and not on college belongings, there's no longer something the critical can say approximately her waiting together with her canines for her little ones. The sidewalk is state belongings - no longer college or inner maximum belongings - it relatively is there for the secure practices of the popular public (so as that they do no longer walk interior the line). I stay in Illinois too, I even have in no way heard of this variety of factor. If she needed to, she ought to stand on the sidewalk adjoining to the school together with her canines, that's no longer a criminal offense. I asked my father in this, he's a veteran state police officer.

In England its 16.
A child under 16 cannot be held legally responsible fgor an animal. That means parents/adults are supposed to supervise.

i think you would have to go to your local police station to find out. As far as i no there is no age limit, same as there is no longer dog licences. I would of thought if the child was old enough to handle the dog, then that would be ok.

I don't think there is a legal age (in the UK). It's more a matter of common sense.

Never heard of a regulation governing a childs age to walk a dog.
Obviously you don't want a 50lb. child walking a 100lb dog.

It is going to vary, by city and state some dont even have a regulaion. Most have it at 12, as long as the child is capable of controling the dogs weight.

It would be a local ordinance. Check with town clerk. In my opinion as long as the child has complete control over the dog in any circumstance
