Thanks for rescuing a homeless pet. That said, you could start by asking your vet. Thats how I figured out the breed of my dog.

I don't know about taking a quiz online and find out what dog it is, but if you have the time to search through a whole bunch of pictures of diffeent dog breeds, you might have a hint of what kind of breed your dog is.

Do you have a picture of the dog? Sometimes by looking you can see some certain breed characteristics in it. Usually the vet will be able to at least pinpoint one breed if it's a mixed breed. if you think it might be a purebred, you can look at the dogs at www.akc.org, or at least you might be able to get a start there.

Most shelters "guesstimate" the breeds in mixed dogs found as strays by looking at specific body components such as the shape and size of the ears, the type of coat the dog has, the shape of the skull (espcially the muzzle), how the dog holds it tail, and the dog's overall size. We use several dog breed books and charts to help determine the breeds in a mixed breed dog.

I don't believe there is an online quiz. I would take him to the vet, they should be able to tell you what breeds your dog is.

He's likely just a mix breed.
Next time you're at the vet you can ask. The vet indentified my brothers dog as a Cattle Dog mix when we always assumed she was some sort of Pit Bull.

The best thing to do is take him to your vet and the dr will tell you what breed or mixed breed the pup possibly is. The pup will need a check up and vaccinations anyway, to include boosters.
