Whenever we brush our dog it wants to eat its own hair. Does anyone know why dogs do this? Should we let the dog eat its hair?

I've never seen mine do that. You shouldn't let him eat the hair, because hairballs can block his intestine.

My dog does it too, I would try to limit the amount you let him eat because it can upset thier stomach and possibly cause a blockage. I have no idea why some dogs eat thier fur after you brush them but I have 2 dogs and only one of them does it, maybe it has something to do with instinct. Maybe a carried over behaviour from wolves that we just havent studied yet. Either way it is funny to see my dog jump all over the yard on a windy day chasing his furballs....LOL

ok, i only have one thing on my mind, DOGS DONT EAT THEIR HAIR ! maybe ur dog just likes it, but u shouldnt let it do that, because it can clog in there and become a giant hairball that will way a lot. and then ull have to give it surgery
