Limit his food and water intake so that he is on a schedule, and you can start to predict more the time that he needs to go. Then once he goes outside, praise!!! If you walk into a room and he had an accident DO NOT YELL OR PUNISH!!!! Dogs dont understand why you are mad unless you catch them in the act.

Bassett Hounds are often a challenge to potty train. Stubborn in nature, the use of a Kennel Cab may help. Put him on as regular of a schedule as is possible. Incorporate daily walks, potty breaks, feeding and be consistent with times.
You didn't mention the age of the dog. If he is a puppy, You will need to take him out numerous times a day. Any time you see him circling and sniffing like he is about to go, get him outside immediately. Praise him anytime he goes outside.
The Kennel Cab should only be big enough for him to stand up in and turn around in unless a puppy, then you need to allow for growth. A dog does not like to soil their "den". Don't put bedding or towels in with your dog. Don't leave him in it too long. Over time he should need less potty breaks and be able to be out of the kennel for longer and longer times until the kennel is just basically for him to nap in as he desires, or to use for travel.
It's best to feed a Bassett two smaller meals a day. Of course, more often if a puppy. Bassetts are stubborn and need work but with persistence, a schedule and consistency you should have a great dog in a short amount of time.

First, how old is the dog? If he is a puppy you need to train him..Start by not leaving the food and water down. Pick it up. Every two hours offer him water, after he drinks take him in the yard for 15 minutes. Feed him twice a day, and after he eats take him out to poop. Give him as much time as he needs. After 10 weeks old begin to scold and gently spank him if he does it in the house, but you must continue as above....When you leave the house leave newspaper on the floor of a small room, the bathroom or the pantry or washroom. Shut him up in that space while you are gone, but take him out as soon as you come home. Once a day take him for a walk and let him pee on everything he wants...Some males will pee 6 to 7 times. If he is an adult begin scolding and gently spanking when you catch him and only when you catch him....Take up food and water as above, and give to him as above except feed him only once a day. Adult dogs don't go right after ingestion, so give him about 30 minutes and then take him outside. Give him plenty of time to do his business. Walk once a day, good walk....Play with him in the yard, when his heart rate increases so does the blood flow to his kidneys, hence he will pee and poo when outside....Continue all of this till trained...Some puppies get it right away others it takes a while....Any time you see the dog at the door or staring at you take them out. Each dog has their own way of showing you, but you have to watch them to know what it is......Good luck and happy petting......Oh and don't forget to tell him what a good boy he is when he goes outside...make a big deal out of it.....

carry his poop into the toilet..and drag him along..sgive him a good shout and point at the **** and point at the corner of the toilet...

occasionally bend his head low into the poop..so he gets a good wiff of the stink he's letting out all over the house.....he probably wont like the smell of his own ****...! my dog doesnt''

~he'll get the idea within a fortnight.....GUARANTEED..

same goes for piss.tryy swabbing with a cloth and collect urine in a bowl and follow above procedure...

repeat it each tim he poops sumplace else.. and when he finally goes to the loo..reward him with sweet words..a good rub..and some lip-smacking treats...each time!
