Is it fair for a young professional to have a dog? If I am working a forty hour work week out of necessity is it fair to bring a dog into that environment? I have been researching breeds for the past year and I am thinking a toy breed is out of the question, but the breeds I am most attracted to currently are Westies, Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers and Boston Terriers. I would do everything I could to alleviate stress with crate training, possibly doggie daycare two days a week, long walks, toys left for play, a sincere effort to come home for lunch breaks....but sometimes life happens and I can't get home....would a dog be okay and adapt to a routine like that? I am a homebody, and would be home or taking my dog with me most everywhere....I just want your opinions. I am single, in a new city and desperately seeking the companionship of a dog. Also, which breeds are better suited for being left alone at times? Should I rescue? or get a puppy that can grow into a routine? Thanks!

Hello. I am looking for a female whippet, preferably young, in the MI area or around it. No show-dogs, just a friendly pooch who's looking for a family. Any names come to mind? (of breeders, not for puppies ;D)

My mother-in-law just got a 7 wk old Jack Russell. It has been eating, drinking, and playing normally but we just noticed that it has a lump about the size of a ping pong ball on her lower abdomen. It doesn't seem to hurt her when we touch it. Anyone know what this could be??? Thanks in advance.

My puppy is getting his first haircut on Friday and I was wondering if I should tip the groomer and how much? He's a cocker spaniel and her fee for grooming him is fifty bucks.

I suspect he was in the kitty litter box. I called the Vet and left a voice mail. He's a pretty stout dachshund. I've read the label to the Tidy Cat and I've been on their website and nothing. He's been up all night and is throwing up some foamy grean/brown stuff that I'm hoping is bile and whatever nastiness he's eaten. PLEASE HELP. Anyone know how serious this is? He is just laying about. Anyone have a dog get sick from Tidy Cat? Thank you!

Get this! They are showing on their website that the pup has been sold. Where do we go from here, we just want our money back!

Hi All

I sadly lost one of my 3 dogs in a tragic drowning accident the week before Christmas. I am totally distraught and lost without her, she truly was a very special dog.

Cally was the playful dog out of my 3 (the other 2 are very docile and just sleep a lot of the time, they have always been like this). I really miss having a dog that wants to play fetc, get lots of attention etc.

I have always said that if anything happened to any of my dogs then I would rescue another dog as I feel I can offer them a great life.

How soon do you think I should look to adopt again, I have had dogs for 8 years and this is the first I have lost.

Should I do it sooner or leave myself to grieve.

Please no silly answers, any dog/pet lover will appreciate that this is a very tough time for me. Many Thanks

Ive heard taht when a cat tail plant gets caught in a dogs nose it comes alive and gives the dog worms in his nose. Anyway i went hunting yeserday with my dog and when we were finnished he was very red on his underside. A day later his reddness went away, but it was replaced with a whole bunch of little white pimples on his chest. Could this be because of the starthistle being poked on him???

My building only allows dogs that are 15" or less as measured at the shoulder. I am a big dog lover (labs, dobies, etc.) and do not want an ankle biter or a yipper. Can anyone suggest a dog with the traits of a lab that does not exceed the size limitation?

Madds is 10 mths old. He drinks plenty of water & is well hydrated. He poops every morning & night. Last night I fed him canned food, & this morn he pooped 3 times, all of which chocolate pudding.

Hard food is okay. Does soft food just make him sick? We tried before & same thing, not this bad though. Just softer than norm.

Also, his eyes are puffy. We muzzle him during the day, could that be why? Right side def feels inflamed/puffy,

He's too cute to be sick!! Help!! Do not have a vet yet, just got him a mth ago. :)

I DON'T have a dog yet, but I'm getting either a puppy German Shepherd, Siberian Husky, Labrador Retriever, or Golden Retriever. How often do I take HIM to the vet, brush him, and walk him every day, if he'll live outside? what food do you recommend?

I have a dog that was neutered, but he only had one descended testicle, and the vet did not do surgery to find the other one (long story, please do not tell me that should be done - there were extenuating circumstances). So, that dog "tied" with a female in season. Is there ANY chance at all that a breeding will result in puppies if the testicle is in the abdominal cavity?

By the way - I know that a totally neutered dog can "tie" with a female in season - I have seen it with my own eyes. Of course, no puppies! But, this dog may have a hidden testicle.

What all is involved? Do you pay for the vet bills and expenses? Do you have to take the dogs to meet their perspective new families or do the families come to you? If they come to you, do you let strangers into your home? How hard was it on you and/or your kids to give up your foster dog? How long do you usually have them? How long can you have them? Could you end up having to keep one forever? Thanks!

I have a beagle-mix and she's a great dog! The only thing is she seems to ahvea tendancy to want to wander. When we walk with the leash she sticks with me and keeps up but sometimes she likes to stop and sniff at things. I'd like to walk her without the leash but I'm afraid she'll go her own way and I'll have to chase her. Are there any signs that idicate if she will or will not come when I call?

Has anybody ever heard of a Dog eating a Diamond Ring?

I left mine on the table and he started to play with it in his mouth and I hear him choke and then I looked to see if he was alright and my ring was gone from the table. I took him to the vet and Xrays were taken and sure enough that ring is in stomach. He was given some medicine and we wait till he passes it and he is not leaving my house for anything until I get that ring back.
