First thing that comes to mind is ringworm. It is round and has crusting around the edges.

Do you have any other pets? Could one of them taken a little nip at this dog?

For now, keep it clean with soap and water. Put some bacitracin type ointment on it until you can bring her in for the diagnosis. Then wash your hands well. If it is ringworm then you can use an antifungal cream, but show it to your vet first.

Keep an eye on it for any other sudden changes but it is probably something that can wait a couple days.

It could be serious, or it could just be a little skin allergy or irritation.

Put a little hydrocortisone cream on it (make sure she can't reach it to lick it off, though!) and keep an eye on it for a few days. If it doesn't get better, it's time to find a vet in your area to have a look.

It sounds like infection. Ringworm usually doesn't crust up. Clean it off well and watch it until you can get to a vet. Go to the vet as soon as you can. It could be serious.

it sounds like a "hot spot" , just keep an eye on it until you can see a vet, keep it clean and dry. Just a suggestion, trying to help
