Dogs - November 2006

I've been wanting a lab for a long time now and I think I can get one finally!
I've got two kids, work school hours and have the space for a dog. I can take it for a brisk 15 minute walk in the morning and a longer walker and a run around in the evening.
I don't intend getting a puppy, but a dog which I have seen in a rescue center.
Do you think the lab will suit my family's lifestyle?

i need help with dogs. my parents might let me get a dog. everybody has been telling me that instead of focusing on one breed, look everywhere. can anyone give me some info on where i can buy a dog that will melt my heart.

p.s- PLEASE do not tell me to go to petfinder.com because i got a million answers like that and that site is not the best.

I am going to take care of my neighbors 10 year old dog. He wants me to feed the dog and than right afterwards take him for a walk.
I think it is bad to walk a dog right after it ate, what do you think?

I am not a native speaker, my dobie has a garden of half an acre where he is always free, also in the house he is free. What do you call in english the chain or rope or whatever, that he has around his shoulders to walk with me on the streets ?

see, my parents said maybe to a dog in like the summer time, so i am keeping my hopes up for earlier...anyway...i need help picking out a dog. with these characterisitcs-

My dog is in her first heat and I cant keep my Male dog to leave her alone , he paces my house crying all the time and then he tackles her , if I try to seperate them into diff rooms they try to tear my door down , any ideas ??????

My dobie has flappy ears, anyone knows if his techniques will improve, he is only 11 months, or will this go on, so his ears get wounded, should I have them clipped. Serious answers please, my dobie is a guard dog on the leash and their are thousands of stray dogs in my country, should I give him a much longer halter leash, so he can move around the strays better ?

I had two yellow puppys dumped on me last yr or almost a year now. The poor things were so depired of food, one of them was said to proably not make it....I still have both of them but I hate when people dump their animals b/c its not fair to people who do care and I have no way of knowing what they are? They both have black gums, they both now have gotton a small line of black on their noses but everyone thinks they are labs? ...What is a way if any, you can tell a yellow lab apart from a black mouth cur ?... then I went hunting down pics on the internet and found a Akbash...now I'm really confused...I know it proably does not matter but I thought I would ask and see....

My dog is 5 year old cocker spaniel. I found 2 deer ticks biting him 1 was in his ear and the other on top of his head. They were both there for a while because they were fat and white. I also want to know if there is any cures for lyme disease for a dog. thank you

I heard there is a stuffed animal called a "snuggle puppy" that emulates a heartbeat and warmth that keeps a new puppy happy at night, keeps the puppy from crying all night. Can anyone tell me the type of store where I can find one of these and if you know how well they work? We also have kids the puppy is welcome to sleep with but wondering if this helps.

I found a good deal on a yorkshire terrier she is 6mths but she ran around and chewed on everything in while we were viewing here....will she calm down and be a good dog after being taken to obeidience school ...I would like to dress her too but when I tried something on her she had a fit ......Now I saw another breed there it was a yorkie and bindshu mix not as cute but came and sat down in my lap! Very Very nice! But my heart wants the full bred yorkie but she acts a little nuts and I have a apartment with no fenced yard but I will take her to school is there hope for her????

I have a Spoodle and want to create Spoodle puppies. Do I need to cross my ***** with a Poodle, or another spoodle, or is it ok to use a male cocker Spaniel? Please do not answer if you are against designer dogs.
