as I have right now?

Three weeks ago my dog who is at least 11 and maybe 13 yrs old, started limping badly. It was almost as if he had a stroke. His appetite decreased and he limped, but he seemed pretty much his normal mental self. We took him to the vet and they thought maybe he had injured his back or was developing arthritis. He didn't get better, but was nicely stoned from pain pills, and after a week we asked the vet to check his kidney functions. He had a bladder infection and was put on antibiotics and pain pills.

Four days later and he can no longer walk at all. My son and I are afraid that this is it for him. Has this ever happened to your dog and turned out well? Our appointment with the vet is in 3 hours and I am afraid that this is the end.

Thanks for your stories.

I was giving our puppy a bath and as I was trying to hold the wet dog and squeeze some puppy shampoo into my hand, he moved and the shampoo ended up landing on his head, and a tiny drop went in his eye. It didn't seem to bother him, he didn't react to it. But I still flushed his eye with water a few times...is that good enough or does he need to see a vet??

So many people are against ear cropping. I have Doberman Pinschers, and yes every one of them have cropped ears. Animal Activist Groups say "how do you know that's what the dog wants?" Many states have banned cropping, does this mean we will no long be able to pierce our 2-3 month old baby's ears either? I'm sure that child didn't ask for it!!!!

If I wanted a hound I'd get one. (jmo)

I took my beagle to the vet yesterday b/c on Monday night after taking him and my other one to the park, he was stumbling, falling and not walking properly and his head was somewhat tilted to the left side. I took him to the vet yesterday as he had not gotten better and they did blood work on him and the results were that his calcium level was quite high. She said that it could be a mass in his brain causing the unsteadiess/wobbliness (central nervous system) and he is on medication for the next couple of weeks till he gets retested in 3 weeks. Has anyone experience something like this with their dogs and if so, any words of wisdom or anything? I'm freaked out here and will be on pins and needles till he gets retested.

I've been doing research on my new American Pit Bull and have found that these dogs were 'bred' from other terriors basically for fighting. What are the original 'breeds' of dogs and are humans cross breeding just to create their idea of a great animal?

She's usually only in there for a few hours while we are away at work. My husband and I make sure to get home every few hours to check on her. One time she pooped and peed in her crate on her blanket. Aren't they not suppose to go where they sleep?

Her dog was 13 years old and we loved the dog too.
Plus.... her husband just died suddenly last week of a heart attack. The funeral was 4 days ago, and now the dog was put to sleep yesterday. My heart aches for her and her sorrow. I know how hard it must be for her and her 2 grown children. Any ideas of a gift? or 'spirit lifter'?

I have tried Science Diet, Purina puppy chow, and now Beneful. My puppy eats her food grudgingly. Is there anything she'd actually enjoy eating?

Ok so my sister plans on moving out and taking her dog. The problem is...she doesn't even clean up for herself. Her dog is an aussie and she spends about 30 mins. with him a week. So i'm trying to take the dog but I know she will just end up with him back.

If an animal shelter (such as SPCA) takes a dog, is it possible for family to have first choice to adopt them?

Is it still stealing if I took the dog (with my parent's permission {my sis is 23}) and got him licensed under my name and micro chipped under my name?

Also, she charges other dogs. They respond in an aggressive manner, although once she gets to them she just wants to play.
