When I give her water she drinks but she still smacks her mouth is that just a way of showing frustration or is it something else?

My husband lives in America and i live in Australia now, ever since i have left America my pup is chewing on everything he can think of my husband works all day he can't leave him outside and won't leave him in his crate for more than an hour. Our puppy has a million toys to play with and a few pigs ears to chew on but would rather chew on the sofa or any other part of the house except his toys. Also im waiting on him to fly to Australia to be with me soon does anyone knows how much this would cost?
Thanks in Advance

i have a 2 year old yellow lab female. she is pretty heavy and she does not lose weight. she only eats once a day and she runs and swims and all other things a normal dog does. is being overweight just a trait in labs? she's already begun to develop some arthritis in her hips. i really want to get her weight headed off before it seriously cripples her.

this is my first night with my first puppy (yay!) and i am conflicted as to where to let her sleep. she seems to prefer the nest bed, but i have been reading a lot of websites that swear by the crate training method. her bed is in her own little room, but i don't want her to wander around during the night and poop/pee everywhere.. but at the same time i don't want to force the crate (that has a fleece throw as bedding and her toy) and make her view it negatively. so what's the best way to go about this? is it wrong to wait for her to fall asleep on her bed and then put her in her crate and bring her to my room?

We went trick or treating with my soon to be sister in law and her kids this year and she just pissed me off with the way she acted toward our dogs. For example, I have 2 shetland sheepdogs (sheties) 8 & 4mths old sweetest dogs ever. The are leash trained and normally do great so we thought it would be fun to take them along. Well my son kept running ahead of the grown ups to walk with the other kids and our older puppy kept wanting to pull to keep up with his charge. She asked to walk him and hold the lead then complains when he pulls to get to his boy who in his eyes is to far away from him. Then today she comes by to look at dogs on the net and says I just don't want one like Riley.
Now we see her and her kids maybe one or twice every couple months or so. She has met my dogs maybe 3 times their whole lives. The last time she was here she was begging her hubby to get her a Sheltie like him. So now he isn't a puppy so she doesn't like him anymore? I am still so mad!!

Ok the title was very vague. Sorry.

My neighbour has a 7 year old (male - neutered) Maltse puppy. When ever I am out with my puppy (leash training) in my front yard, my neighbour lets his Maltese dog out of his property. The problem is; his dog relieves himself in my yard - number ones and twos! My puppy is not ready for her Parvo shot yet so I am worried that my puppy could catch parvo because of my neighbours dogs faeces.

Any advice on what to do?

i saw one the other night foraging in someone's garbage. i mistook it for a dog and got close. when it noticed me, it bared it's teeth but stood in a submissive pose. what does that mean?

i could tell it was a coyote because of the bushy tail and long pointed snout plus it's coloring. i just backed away and it didn't pursue me. there have been reports of coyotes attacking people in a nearby state park that were killed by sharpshooters.

my question is if i happen to run into one again, what should i do??

Since some time yesterday night, she has been vomiting. It went from vomiting up what she had chewed (a few carrots and a packet of cheese sprinkles from Pizza Hut) to a mucus/frothy mixture, to dry-heaving. She stopped vomiting, slept through the night, and seemed to feel a bit better this morning.

However, she's slowly seemed to feel worse throughout the day, and had a massive diarrhea attack earlier which was a good bit smellier than usual, and a dark mustard color. I know her stool was not liquid earlier today. Her nose is warm and dry, and she is sleeping heavier than usual. Her appetite is not as good, when she was fed dinner, she barely ate at all. She is in the process of getting all of her boosters (next appointment is this Friday), but hasn't been anywhere to "catch" anything. Our other dogs are vaccinated, so they wouldn't have anything.

Any suggestions for helping her? Should I wait until Friday to get her in, or try and get her into the vet tomorrow? Thanks!

My dog had what appeared to be a scab on his back. My son was messing with it and it started to come out, so thinking it was a tick, he pulled on it and it continued to come out, at least 1 1/2 inches. What is this???

My puppy gets this high pitched bark when he gets scared... it's actually pretty adorable. Then his regular low pitched GRRR barking when he is angry or in protection mode, even though he's not capable of hurting a fly!!! Why is this?

My 10 month old lab can't control herself when company comes over. She gets really excited and just doesn't behave. She's a doll when people she is very familiar with is around, but when it comes to anyone else, shes a manic. How do I get her to be a pleasure instead of a pest?

For a long time I thought he was a Shepard/Chow mix but now I do not think this to be true. I know that his markings are definately shepard. But I cant figure out the second breed...mostly because of his ears. They are floppy not like a shepard or a chow whos ears stick up. So I have now been thinking that he is a shepard/retriver mix... What do you think???

Hi, I notice that there have been a few questions on here about deaf dogs but all are resolved now. I have an adult deaf dog who is the best dog ever. I have had a great time training and living with him. I have a 12 week old deaf Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog puppy at the moment looking for a good home. I have successfully placed other deaf puppies with wonderful, loving homes. My question is, does anybody know of anyone who would like a beautiful deaf puppy? He is registered, chipped, vaccinated and is a blue male with a gentle, affectionate nature. He is available to an approved home for the cost of transport only. Thanks. Sarah

I had to take care of my mom for over a month because she had surgery. She stayed here at my house with her little JRT. My mom went home Sunday. Now my Pug, Sandy won't hardly eat or drink. Is this because she misses the other dog and my Mom? She eats her treats when I give them to her, but she just nibbles at her food. The only time I give her treats is when she goes to potty, and that's like maybe 4 times a day.
