GO TO THE VET!!!!!! There is special testing that can determine for sure. It is very hard to tell if a dog is deaf only in one ear.

get him in a room by yourself and no other noises . No tv no radio no nothing and use a whistle .clap your hands and if he has no response,no turning head ,nothing then he is most likely deaf or hearing impaired but take him to a vet to make sure that is the problem. Also do not get rid of the dog just because he is deaf . Deaf dogs can learn to manage just like deaf people.Good luck and god bless you and your dog.

the best way to tell if you dog is deaf or hearing impaired is to first take him to a large field and let him get interested in something then call his name or make a load noise. if he has no reaction then get close to him and eather snap yout fingers by his ear or clap loadly by his head. if still no reaction you can asume he has a hearing problem. best thing to do is take him to the vets to give him a good exam to make sure that there is not some other reason he has a hearing loss.
good luck.

Well if he is not responding as well as he once did, that would be a sure sign of deafness. Try sneaking up on him while he has his back turned (make sure he doesn't see you) and clap your hands a few times. If he doesn't notice, then he's probably deaf.

A few ways, when a dog is sleeping, sneak up and clap behind his head, you could also leave the room and yell his name and see is he comes, another way is to have one person distract the dog and then ring a bell behind his head, good luck.
