My dobie has flappy ears, anyone knows if his techniques will improve, he is only 11 months, or will this go on, so his ears get wounded, should I have them clipped. Serious answers please, my dobie is a guard dog on the leash and their are thousands of stray dogs in my country, should I give him a much longer halter leash, so he can move around the strays better ?

If you intend to keep this dog on a leash, do him a favor now and find him a decent home. Keeping a dog tied up is despicable and a sure-fire way to destroy his temperament! Or do you really thinks it's cool for him to have to fight? It's because of people like you that these dogs get such a bad rap!

He is too old to have his ears cropped
If you mean he is tied up outside your home and gets attacked, build a fence to keep the strays out, if you can't afford this, keep him inside, if you won't do this, find him a good home.
If you mean you are TAKING HIM FOR A WALK ON A LEASH and he gets attacked, then take a squirt gun/water pistol filled with 1/4 ammonia and 3/4 water to spray the strays with and they will learn to stay away & contact animal control to remove the strays.

Your dog is now to old to hve his ears cropped.
That is done when the dog is about 9-12 weeks old. After that it is to late and if they were cropped they most liokely would never stand properly.
You need to be protecting your dogfrom strays. He should not be fighting with other dogs. Dobermans were bred as gaurd dogs but not as fighting dogs. They were bred as a personal protection dog for humans. They will fight other dogs but it is not good for them to be fighting with strays as who knows what disease they could get from one. Let alone the damage from the bite wounds.
It is not fair to your dog to be tied up and have to fight one day you may find you dog has been killed by a sraty who was a better fighter and was not tied while fighting.

What is he guarding that makes him fight all of the time? If you are trying to protect a property fence it in. He can keep intruders out. But to subject a dog to constant fighting is cruel. Is he protecting you as you walk? I don't get it ! What kind of environment requires a dog to do constant battle? What type of techniques are you trying to improve? FIGHTING? This dog can and is being subjected to pain, infection and possibly death. Sorry dude never thought I'd say this but, the pound sounds like a better place for your dog.

Could you perhaps put up a fence? Your doberman should be your pet, and he can protect your property from intruders but if you continue on this course, he's going to turn into a very bad dog that no one can get close to (possibly not even you)

You could leave him in the house, he can still guard the house from there, but be safe from other dogs attacking him. If you are not home in time to walk him then I agree you should give him away.

you should never teach dogs to be killers. they will eventually turn on a human. once a dog tastes blood you may as well put them down. my grandfather had to put many of his hunting dogs down because of this. he said once any dog tast blood there not worth having. keep your dog away from the strays. do something to get rid of the strays. get animal control out there. please don't teach your pet to be a killer.
