Whatever kind of dog you get, by all means, offer your home, love and care to one that has not been so lucky so far. There are so many out there-too many. Whatever traits a dog may have today (characterwise) can change over time. It's up to you to make him/her the "perfect" pet. Besides wondering what kind of dog to get, you should also put a lot of emphasis and thought into the responsibility you will be taking on. Are you, and is your family, ready for a dog?

Lol, you can't get a dog that DOESN'T bite. You will need to enroll it into obedience classes.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are great dogs. They don't particularly like young, in-considerate kids though.

A Beagle is also a great dog. Doesn't shed a lot, has an average energy level and is friendly. It isn't exactly small but it is medium-small in size. Females are usually smaller. They can be a bit hard to train and may wonder off when (off a leash) somewhere if they pick up a scent (as all hounds do). They are known to dig a lot and would be able to dig under a fence that isn't far enough into the ground.

well our family has a black toy poodle. It's so nice!!! It dose not shed, bite, or dig. It's a perfect house dog. We can leave it home all day and it won't go to the bathroom in the house. And we don
t like the way people cut their poodle to look liek a real poodle with the puffy tail. We just get her hair cut normal and noone can even tell that it's a poodle. And it is so small. I mean the neighbors cat is bigger than it. It is 4 and it weights 7 pounds!! and when it was a puppy it only weighed 2! just a suggestion.

Yorkies are great! And I never had a small dog in my life before, 4 months ago I decided to get a Yorkie puppy. It's all about how you train the dog, and any dog can nip, bark or misbehave. Small breeds can be more difficult to housetrain but there are a lot of advantages, too... My Yorkie doesn't yap, isn't scared of eveything, goes on the pad... Is very friendly and loves people and other dogs. They don't shed at all but need everyday thorough brushing and haircuts every 2 months or so. They do get hyper but also stay active and playful till their teen years... Whtever you decide, enjoy!

You will have to teach whatever dog you get not to bite...All of the dogs you named can be quite expensive to purchase. And most terriers (including the yorkie have a TON of energy). I recommend going to the local animal shelter and picking whatever dog you fall in love with. No dog is going to perfectly fit all of those categories...they all need lots of exercise and training!!

Your options SUCK! they are fricken terriers they will bite your *** off. Actually they will bite your feet of. If you want a small friendly dog, you are out of luck most little dogs bite and are full of energy. They are mostly terriers which are dogs that were bred to kill small animals. Good luck anyway, I have a boxer and he is absolutely perfect and we live in a RV, so go figure.

Congratulations on your almost getting a new dog! =D

Here's a link that can help you figure out what breed of dog is best for you.
Once you get the right breed, you should look at your local animal shelter/rescue to see if they have that breed, or at least a mix with that breed in him/her.

There's also this link as well..

This link has poodle mixes, poodles don't shed to much.

Big no to the yorkie! They are prone to biting and mood swings if you will. My Mom had 2 and will never own another. Shih tzu's are good dogs and so are spaniels. A spaniel seems more to fit your needs.

Biscons! Never shed, love to play, love everyone, you can't get much better than them. Or a poodle, which may seem kinda girly, but they're just like the biscon. Believe, they're not as prissy as you might think!
