people, if you're dog is NOT registered and is NOT a PUREBRED than DON'T breed them!!!! spay/neuter ASAP!!! also, if you DON'T have a clue about breeding than you DON'T need to. whether you have a purebred or not. I have a 10 yr. old Purebred beagle with papers and is registered with the AKC but I choose to neuter him because I had no clue about dog breeding and I didn't want the responsibility. why can't people be more like me? there are WAY too many homeless pups/dogs in this world for all you BYB's to be producing more. PLEASE take my advice.

i got the results this morning his liver enzymes are elevated, he was on remadyl for 3 weeks and is currently on deramaxx. he started deramaxx 6 weeks ago. my vet told me to give him 50 mg every other day instead of daily.the vet told me i would have to make some desions. what am i supposed to decide my dog doesnt soil his bed he has a excellant appetite. he does need help with the 5 steps that lead to the yard i usually carry him down, i use treats when he goes out to keep him motivated and i can get him to hobble around the yard sometimes he will sit in the sun for a little bit.sometimes he will let me know by barking if he needs to go out or help getting water.i dont know what the vet meant my dog is still very alive.

She does not get treats, she does not eat human food, and she does not get into garbage.. yet she has the most foul gas I have ever smelled from a dog, and I have had dogs all my life. I know it is common for dogs to pass gas but this is something far worse. At least once every 5 minutes she passes gas, and it is a horrible horrible smell. We cant let her sleep in our bedroom anymore because the smell is so overwhelming, and no matter what we do it seems to stay. Our other dog, a one year old Newfi, does not have this problem.
Can you give a dog beano? Mylicon drops?

She is neutered... someone mentioned that might be a factor, although I dont see why.
We have tried:
Changing her food to the vet recommended brand
Feeding her on a very strict schedule
Letting her out every 30 minutes to potty

I am so frustrated! It is disgusting and I have reached a frustration point because I cant stand to have her in the house anymore. What can I do?

I know pugs shed, but are they that bad? I was a smaller dog to be with my lab puppy. Tink is 9 months old and extremely calm so she wouldn't be a threat to the new puppy.

We have a 6 month female who has always been well received by other dogs. Recently, even dogs she has known for months are snarling and barking at her, but it doesn't look like her behavior has changed. We are wondering if she could be going into heat and that is why? Yes, we have an appointment to get her spayed, and our vet told us that heat wouldnt' happen till 8-10 months and we had time. We are being responsible, but we are just wondering why she went from being loved to hated in a matter of a week. Mostly we are wondering if it is to do with how she acts (playful) or if heat could be the reason.

She threw up twice this afternoon and it was yellow in colour. It was also kind of stringy, like egg yolk. There was no food bits that came out with it either time and she's gone to the bathroom ("number 2") three times in the house today when I wasn't home and again when I took her out at her regular time and she was whining just now so I took her out and she went again, totalling 5 times which is weird because she's never gone that many times. Theres been no change in the amount of food I give her. Does she have the flu or something? Is there anything I can do to comfort her right now or to help with whatever she has?

I have two puppies one F 1/2 husky 1/2 malamute that is 6 months old and one M st.benard puppy that is 4 months old. They have met eachother but not for that long. They have played together but the min. me or my husband hear them whine (mostly the boy st) we take them apart from eachother (they weren't on leashes). I've heard so many different ways to get two dogs use to eachother but I just don't know if they should be on leashes or not when they around around eachother. I don't want either one of them to get hurt but they are going to be around eachother forever and the sooner I can let them both outside together and not worry about them killing eachother the better! HELP!

I adopted a 5 -year old chihuahua/papillon mix today from the shelter, and I'll get to bring her home Friday after she is spayed. She doesn't appear to be housebroken, and I'm not sure if I should try to paper train her like the other dog or try to train her to go outside. Any suggestions? Also - any suggestions on helping the dogs become friends?

everytime i get up to do something the dog always wants to go outside ! he never does anything but listen to whats going on and sniffing the air. i am afraid he will end up goin on the rug if i don't take him out.(new rug) how do i tell him no when he keeps wanting to go out for no reason! he just keeps barking and wants to be outside! what to do!i suspect there may be a female in heat somewhere where i live but could that cause him to want to go out every 5 min?

I read a lot of questions on here about what to do with a dog when the owner no longer needs/wants it. I'm appalled by how "disposable" our canines are.

Did you know that not all animals are humanely "put to sleep" if they don't find homes? Many are drowned, gassed, shot and tortured...do you really want your dog to die such a horrible death?

Not all dogs get adopted. You think your dog is "so cute he'll find a good home?" Check out your local shelter and http://www.petfinder.com for all of the othe dogs that were surrendered whose owners thought the same thing.

Do you know that abandoning your dog on the side of the road/in the wild is a recipe for disaster? First, if it's female, she will most likely wind up pregnant, and before long you will have a pack of wild dogs causing damage, tearing up trash, terrorizing children, and even attacking other animals or pets.

Keep your pets. You owe it to them.

I'm currently feeding my 4month old puppy science diet small bites for puppies. He doesn't seem to like it toooo much and he eats his own feces (he goes in the morning when I'm still asleep)and some people recommended switch of food.

I watched the Westminster dog show on TV & the announcer said "formerly known as the Jack Russell." Maybe it's called different names in different countries? I also see short-legged & long-legged dogs on breeder's websites & in magazines. Are both allowed in the breed standard? Can any of you doggie folks explain the difference? Thanks.

Hi...I have problem that seems to be growing...
I have a 2 yr old cocker spaniel ***** (very affectionate, loving, yet nervous) i have just got a jack russell *****, 10 weeks old (have had her for the past 2 weeks, seems a bit bossy)....First they started arguing over food and toys, now they've started getting into fights... Was i wrong to get these 2 seperate breeds, do their personalities clash..What's the best way of dealing with this, i need to nip this in the bud before it gets worse..The cocker is very jealous over me and barges her way in when she see's me showing the JR any attention, the JR just get's possesive over toys, not me....Hope i've given enough info for someone to give some advice!..Thanks.
