Have you ever heard: "you can't teach an old dog new tricks"?
Well, most of the time it's true.

You should have addressed the issue 8 years ago. Why is it now a problem? My experience with older dogs, especially the toys, that are not housetrained is that it is too late. Did you train her to pee pads? Have you always just put her outside and hope for the best?
She is doing what you have allowed all this time. You can't expect her to change the behaviour that was allowed for 8 yrs. At 2 crate training might have worked. The toys can be hard to break because they usually go hide to do business and you don't catch them in time. Her odor is in the flooring now unless she is trained to use pee pads, which is what she is used to.
Dogs are trainable unless the owner has allowed a certain behaviour for too long. Sorry

Try keeping the puppy in a small location for a few days, like a big bathroom if you have one - or just a spare room or office, so they don't have the whole house to roam around in while you're away. Then, talk gently to them about the newspaper on the floor and what they should do with it. When you get home, if they went doo-doo or pee-pee on the newspaper, then give them lots of praise, and take them outside for a short walk so they can go to the bathroom outside. The newspaper really is just a make-do for getting them to understand that they need to do their business outside; so be very good about letting them go out in the morning when you go to work, in the afternoon when you get home and in the evening before you go to bed. A Yorkie is a teensy-weensy little dog, so if they do a #2 once or twice a day, that should be fine, but they will need to relieve their bladder as often as they wish - certainly as often as you're able.

You got her when she was 2 and you waited 8 years to ask about potty training?
Crate train the animal to housebreak it. http://www.leerburg.com
Small breeds (like Yorkies and Chi's) are stereotypically picky eaters. Try Artemis food, my Chi loves it!

I would have your dog checked, it might have a bladder infection (infections can last for a long time, believe me!) My sister had that happen with her dog. They can give them meds to help. As a last resort, you can buy doggie diapers, either at a petsmart or petco, or online.

By the nature of the breed, it would be difficult. I bet it could be done, sorry I can't help here, but it would be difficult.
