She does not get treats, she does not eat human food, and she does not get into garbage.. yet she has the most foul gas I have ever smelled from a dog, and I have had dogs all my life. I know it is common for dogs to pass gas but this is something far worse. At least once every 5 minutes she passes gas, and it is a horrible horrible smell. We cant let her sleep in our bedroom anymore because the smell is so overwhelming, and no matter what we do it seems to stay. Our other dog, a one year old Newfi, does not have this problem.
Can you give a dog beano? Mylicon drops?
She is neutered... someone mentioned that might be a factor, although I dont see why.
We have tried:
Changing her food to the vet recommended brand
Feeding her on a very strict schedule
Letting her out every 30 minutes to potty
I am so frustrated! It is disgusting and I have reached a frustration point because I cant stand to have her in the house anymore. What can I do?

I agree with some of the others in that you should change your dogs food to something more natural, like a raw food diet. If not raw, then there are lots of good brands out there that don't use fillers such as corn, wheat, etc which are big allergens. In my experience, most vet's don't recommend high quality food. Try www.naturapet.com to compare brands.

Bad gas is caused by food that's not digesting properly.
Chances are it's a certain food she's eating.
It can also be caused by a food allergy. I've a friend whom raises English Bull and due to their allergies has fed them on a chicken and rice diet to find out what the allergies were, then slowly adding back in things.
I'm allergic to wheat and it can cause a foul gas in those that can't digest it well and have a gluten intolerance. Dogs can get the same problem. Just be patient, you'll figure out what's going on.
Also, have you check her for worms? That can cause problems as well.

Maybe you should try a high quality brand of dog food. Just because a vet recommended it does not make it a good food. Sometimes vets will tell you to get crap like Science Diet or Iams. Go to http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/ and read some reviews.
You can also try giving her a spoonful of plain yogurt every day. This is what worked for my dog when I was switching him off of Iams, which is what his last owners fed him. He still occasionally farts, but I don't care. I fart occasionally too! It is normal. You can never stop a dog from farting all together.

My brother's dog is a lab...her name is Emma....she had the same issue and he later found out she was allergic to wheat and other things where he has to feed her some straight natural meat product. Ask your vet to run some blood work or better yet before spending the money on that...go to pet store and ask if they have some dog food for a dog with wheat allergy...and try that for 2 weeks to see. I think this may help you. His dog would make me leave visiting him because it was SO foul! Should be illegal..lol
Hope I helped... : )

Ive heard of this before and my Friend tried cooking turkey or chicken and the dog stopped with all the foul smelling gas.You need to just give him water till hes cleaned out, then try the meat.It will make him healthier and he will have less stools as most of the meat will be used as energy.Good luck

we had a LARGE lab/pointer cross that we dearly loved but she could fart green clouds! Thought we'd all have to buy gas masks
just to be able to stay in the room with her. Nothing seemed to
help.
Good Luck

There are products available at Petsmart to control gas in dogs. It is a tablet you feed them. Go to a store and ask a salesperson to help you find it, it should be over in the vitamin area of the store.
