VERY HIGH. They are VERY smart dogs... highly trainable, very eager to please. However, they are "working" dogs... so they need to be kept busy (with toys, outside play, walks, etc) or they can become destructive.

Borders generally rate among the highest in dog intelligence. Very trainable, very attentive. Sometimes to their own downfall when they end up in the hands of someone who doesn't understand that! A bored Border is generally a baaaaaaaaaad thing...

smartest breed in the world. Rate in intelligence 5 out of 5 (they rate a breed out of five in most books.) Allthough, need a lot of excercise and attention, or theyll get destructive in the house. Top 3 smartest dogs:
1) Border collie
2) Poodle
3) German Shepherd :-)

They are pretty intelligent dogs like all dogs bred to work and herd. They are also good watch dogs as well. They are also real good around small kids. My choice if I had small kids and wanted a medium to large sized dog.
