WUDDALIFE is correct...fill the hole back in with dirt and put some of the dogs poo near the top. Cover that with another thin layer of dirt. When fido goes to digging as soon as they hit the poo they quit. You must be persistant. Dogs will go back to certain spots, but when they find those spots distasteful, they will move to new ones, but eventually they will "think" no matter what spot they find...they always will find poo...and they will eventually quit.

It depends on what type of dog you have. Some breeds are just diggers, and their is nothing you can do. You can try to keep the digging to one area of your yard. Maybe get some sand or dirt and encourage him to dig there, and discourage him to dig in other places. We had to teach our dog not to dig the carpet. ( We have a Siberian Husky and they are diggers. ) He has tried to bury his bone in the carpet, so we taught him to bury it outside the house instead of inside. What can I say, he is a dog, and he does dog things.

Really gross, but it works. My vet told me to take some of the dog's poo and put it in his favorite spots to dig (if he has one) and he will not like getting it on his paws and will associate digging with this. It takes a while, but it works.

Just remember to wipe his paws until he gets it.

your dog is like a child when bored he gets up to mischief, make sure he has plenty of toys and challenges perhaps some biscuits in a pipe or bottle with no cap so he has to work out how to get them.
set aside a designated spot for him to dig and put his toys etc. in it and encourage him to dig there.

exercising your canines extra many times! Digging can many times be an illustration of boredom and frustration from no longer getting sufficient exercising. If my Golden Retriever would not get sufficient exercising it style of feels that she would have the capacity to dig diverse holes in in basic terms a be counted of minutes! attempt taking your canines for an prolonged stroll, a run in the park, play capture, take the canines for a swim(canines friendly seashores in basic terms, of direction!), or decide for a hike! something to tire your digger out! purely remember, a drained canines is many times a good canines! they don't have the potential to be naughty and dig!
