She threw up twice this afternoon and it was yellow in colour. It was also kind of stringy, like egg yolk. There was no food bits that came out with it either time and she's gone to the bathroom ("number 2") three times in the house today when I wasn't home and again when I took her out at her regular time and she was whining just now so I took her out and she went again, totalling 5 times which is weird because she's never gone that many times. Theres been no change in the amount of food I give her. Does she have the flu or something? Is there anything I can do to comfort her right now or to help with whatever she has?
My dog's a 6 year-old Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie).

Her eliminating in the house today is not a good sign. Usually a dog that eats something 'bad' will expel it orally before it gets too far down the digestive track. (i.e. frog, bugs, etc.) You say you didn't see food come out when she regurgitated, has she eaten today or what did she eat yesterday evening/night. Do you let her out for the final pee at night, could she have gotten hold of anything then? Sometimes dogs eat to much of a rich food i.e. candy. Are you missing any candy or such items, see if something could have fallen off of a counter and then eaten. How do her eyes look are they mostly bright or are they sunken in her head slightly? Glassy or sunken eyes indicate illness, See a vet tomorrow if she is still in distress. The yellow expectorant is digestive juices and not necessarily indicative of the actual item/illness. Good luck.

dogs eat grass to make themselves throw up when their stomach is upset. If this has been going on a while, you probably should take the dog to a vet. Usually they eat grass, throw up and are better. They don't usually keep doing this.

I would take her to the vet as soon as possible, it doesn't take much for a dog to dehydrate, she may have eaten something sock, toy, ext... and it could be stuck ? if vet is not possible, try pepto bismol I have given it to my dog it really does work if all it is the flu .also pedialyte the kind u give to babies so she don't get dehydrated make sure she has access to plenty of fluid.

I would probably be worried, cause I had a cat that did somthing similar, and she stopped eating and layed around a lot. If your dog is not eating and is weak. I would definitally take him to the vet. Cause in my cats case it didnt end well.

She might have developed a food allergy. I had a dog that did wonderful on a certain brand and then one day she just started getting sick and barfing up yellow gunk. I took her to the vet and we found out that she developed an allergy to beef.

Or your dog might have eaten something stupid when you were not looking. My dog will sometimes pick up crap and eat it on our walks and he will barf yellow gunk and poop a lot. Someimes he just pukes for no apparent reason...because he's a dog.

No matter how much you describe your dog's symptoms no one on YA can diagnose your dog's ailment. Even if you do get "advice" how do you know who is right and who is wrong. What if you follow the advice given here and it gets worse Exercise common sense and take her to the vet.
