I have a friend that has a german shepard that absolutely hates everybody. He attacks the doors of the house and is very violent when hes around strangers.

He's only normal if he knows u have a doggie treat in your hand. How do i go about taming him without having treats all the time?

I am planning on working overseas for a year, but unfortunately bringing the dog with me is out of the equation. No-one I know is able to look after my dog for a whole year, so does anyone have any other ideas about where I can look? A kennel, too, is out of the question. I want to feel happy that my dog is being looked afer while I'm away. I'm in Perth, Australia.

I have tried to make her sit when i see another dog approaching, I have tried treats to get her attention, but as soon as she sees it she goes nuts and she's very strong so pulls like mad, so i have trouble making her stay put. She is really nasty when it comes to other dogs but i don't know why because she has been in the kennels for a long time before i rescued her, but she loves people.

The other day i was walking her and somehow she jumped the lead, tried to attck this poor other dog and ended up on a busy road, luckily there was not a car coming and i managed to controll her. It scared me so much i bought another collar, and it was very embarassing. Does anyone have any good tips on how to get her to ignore other dogs.

We have a german shepherd/ border collie mix, so she has extremely thick fur which is great for where we live.
The only thing is that it gets really hot in the summer sometimes, so my dad decided to get her shaved at the groomers (I had no say in this).
So she came home with all her fur gone, and the groomers said the fur would grow back in 5 or 6 months.

Well we got her shaved in the last week of April and her fur still hasn't grown back. Well she has fur on her legs and stomach. There's some "fuzz" on her body but no long fur like it was.

Has anyone had this happened? Exactly how long will it take to grow back? And why hasn't it grown back?

Already have a female Labrador puppy (around 13 weeks old) and a rescue shelter (female) German Shepherd x Labrador (5 years old) and I would like to buy another puppy. I have had a lot of success with the Lab puppy I have now but I would like to get her a friend that is around her age, so, I would be buying a purebred pup from a breeder - not rescue shelter (although I have been to look at a pair of female Kelpie pups and a male Boxer puppy).
I have the current breeds in mind:
Samoyed, Newfoundland, Chinook, American Mastiff, Chihuahua, Basenji, Beagle, Golden Retriever, Jack Russell or a Brittany.

I would like one that will grow up to be around the size of my Lab (when fully grown) so they can play together. I don't want Lili (GSD x Lab) to feel left out either so it has to be around her size, too. Molly (Lab puppy) is very friendly, affectionate and loving; so is Lili. I would like a dog that would get along food with a child (3 mth old) and would get along with Molly & Lili.

I live with a friend who owns a dog. The 3 of us have lived together for almost a year now (the dog is just over a year old). This dog has become my best friend and will now follow my command over my friends.

The dog is really attached to me as I am now her primary discipliner, play mate and cuddle buddy. The dog will even follow me to the bathroom to watch me shower or bath. She sleeps outside my bedroom door on nights she does not sleep in my bed.

In February my friend and I will be going our seperate ways and losing the dog is going to kill me!!!! I know she will be affected aswell. What can I do to make the seperation anxiety less traumatic for the both of us?!?!

Just 4 the record: I can't ask to keep the dog as my friend got her as a birthday present last year!

There are sites that will show what a certain dog looks like but only if you know the breed of the dog. If i were to guess I would say he is part kangaroo, rabbit & snoopy rolled into one....:-)

i absolutley hate how people think that pit bulls are so mean it really drives me crazy the best dogs i have ever had were pit bulls my dog now is the most loving dog u will ever meet everyone is quick to say how they were breed to fight for a long time and its in there genes well why in the hell dont u research it than u will find out the truth that yea even know they were breed to fight that they were always very loyal dogs and they were not taught to fight people they were trained to fight dogs and thats why you have to assoicate your dog with lots of dogs when they r a puppy and so manu dog bites gets reported as a pit bull bite when it wasnt just read the statistics and get a clue and than PITA wants to kill all pitbulls i thought they were trying to save animals what makes people think that this is only our world and other animals cant live her because they dont like the way it acts people r crazy!!!!!!

Our dog went missing about 3 months ago, we placed fliers everywhere and asked neighbors, we had no luck.

Yesterday, upon returning home, we noticed the dog was chained across the street. We approached the house and was greeted right away by the lady who lived there, We told her that we suspected her to have our dog, she denied it and told us they had this dog for 3 months, which we replied that it was 3 months ago when he ran off.

We were friendly but wanted the dog back, but when she told us that she had him registered, we pretty much thought there was nothing we can do about it. We exchanged info and was aloud to come over whenever we want and play with "their" dog.

problems though, the dog was not nuturered, this is Illegal in our state of New Mexico, so registration may have been fraud. We did not purchase him because he was a stray which no one claimed in a 2 year period, he came to us. we did post fliers about him though and no one came. What can we do to get him back

is ready for a new puppy. I only have one child and that is all I will have. Sadie was my Sadie girl and she died a month ago today. However, my 9 year old son is wanting another dog. I'm not ready, it really broke my heart when Sadie died. How do I deal with getting another dog without thinking of her all the time. I do want to get him a dog for Christmas, but I'm not sure how I can handle it.

Do Huskies really never bark? I'm wondering if they will protect the home, and how they act towards complete strangers.

Someone called Clark Howard, the consumer radio talk show host, and told him that raisins almost killed his dog and the vet said they were toxic to dogs. Does this make sense? Why?

I was trying to keep my female alone as I had plans to get her fixed but she was just "locked" up with a male for about half an hour. I am not even really sure that she was in heat. She had been spotting just a little but just had a litter of puppies three months ago. She screamed and fought the whole time. When they finially unlocked she fell to the ground exhausted and bleeding. It took her a while but she is walking around some but very carefully. She did drink some water. She bled a lot but it seems to be slowing down. Is this normal? I don't have any experience with this at all! I am so upset about this!
