We have a german shepherd/ border collie mix, so she has extremely thick fur which is great for where we live.
The only thing is that it gets really hot in the summer sometimes, so my dad decided to get her shaved at the groomers (I had no say in this).
So she came home with all her fur gone, and the groomers said the fur would grow back in 5 or 6 months.
Well we got her shaved in the last week of April and her fur still hasn't grown back. Well she has fur on her legs and stomach. There's some "fuzz" on her body but no long fur like it was.
Has anyone had this happened? Exactly how long will it take to grow back? And why hasn't it grown back?

If it helps:
She's 9 years old, but I suppose that doesn't do anything.

Sometimes this happens in older, double coated dogs (like yours). It's not that the shaving harmed the hair, it's just that the hair is no longer growing out properly the way it used to, either because of age or because of other (often minor and unknown) heath issues. You wouldn't normally notice this, because the old hair just stays there. I always warn owners of double-coated dogs that this is a possibility before I shave their dog. Usually the dog grows back fine, but occasionally they have problems like yours.
In most cases, the hair will EVENTUALLY grow back, but it may take a long time.
Some things to try:
Have her checked over by the vet to make sure there are no heath/hormone issues that can be taken care of.
Make sure she is getting a high-quality diet (not bargain brand food).
Regular brushing right down to the skin helps to stimulate the skin and hair. Also, clean hair grows better than dirty hair.
Good luck!

Oh poor thing...My mom and step dad have a keyes hound, however you spell that, well he pretty much looks like a 45 lb cotton ball with legs. Well they have to shave his butt all the time, for hygiene reasons. The fur on his bottom usually grows back within a few months. Which I would imagine when her fur should have grown back, call up the groomer who did it or even the vet and ask them, something could be wrong.

Wow! It should have definitely been grown back in by now. Have you tried speaking with the groomer or any groomer. How about the vet, maybe there is a skin issue like mange or something.

Call the groomer. Hopefully this person saved the fur....get the fur and glue it back on.

the area says that the bears are made out of hair collected from shedding, clipping or gooming (click on "See different Bears we've Made" on the bottom of the web page). It appears like they weave the hair right into a fabric and then stitch it right into a undergo. i might want to probable make a pair bears from what Lexi sheds, lol.

DOGS DO ***NOT*** have FUR!!!
Buzzing a double-COATED type like that *CAN* & DOES ***RUIN*** them ...often PERMANENTLY!!!!
Your dad was/IS an IDIOT!!! Not only RUINED the coat but REMOVED it's NATURAL INSULATATION-needed for SUMMER as well as winter!!!!
NITWITS!!
You *might* check for LOW-THYROID (VET job!) but......DO "DOPE-SLAP" dad!
