For a new puppy, what can I be expected to pay for shots and registration? A German Shepherd puppy, I do not know if breed matters in these things...

Thank you

Nah, breed doesn't matter at all in these matters.

As for costs...it depends on where you have the shots done and what shots you are talking about.

Parvo/distemper/lepto/canine influenza combo shots range right at $20. (These shots need to be administered three times over the course of a couple months.) Rabies shots are about $25. If you want kennel cough, that's another $20 or so. Plus you have to add in the cost of the office visits, which range from $25 - $50.

You might be able to attend vaccination clinics, where you can avoid the cost of the office visit...contact local pet supply stores or animal shelters for info on clinics. Of course, the costs I mention are in my area...your area might be different.

Registering the dog should cost about $30.

BTW, thanks for spelling Shepherd correctly! I can't say enough how much it irritates me to see shepard/sheperd/etc.!!!

It has been a while since I registered a puppy, but I believe it is less than $50.00. Make sure you do this - if you choose to wait after the time stamped on the registration papers, then the AKC will charge ALOT MORE!!! I had a dog that I was the breeder, some one gave the dog back to me about 3 years later and to get the dog registered cost me $200.00. So, learn from me - if nothing else.
As far as the shots, you need to start your puppy on the puppy parvo shots as soon as it is old enough to get them. These are a series of three shots that are VERY IMPORTANT!!! Please consult your vet about the age that these shots need to be started. I emphasize this because if you don't get their parvo shots - your puppy can get very sick and there is a possibility of it dying!!!
The other shots that your puppy will need are the DHLP and rabies. The DHPL and rabies (at least where I live ) run around $50.00 more or less. Hope this information will help you to have a happy and healthy puppy and dog for many years to come.

The breed doesn't matter..shots are about $15 .. As we don't know his vaccination history, we can't tell you how many he will need..Registration with the kennel club is about $35..I don't know how much your county charges for licensing, if that is what you mean.. Usually about $30 per year..
