I was trying to keep my female alone as I had plans to get her fixed but she was just "locked" up with a male for about half an hour. I am not even really sure that she was in heat. She had been spotting just a little but just had a litter of puppies three months ago. She screamed and fought the whole time. When they finially unlocked she fell to the ground exhausted and bleeding. It took her a while but she is walking around some but very carefully. She did drink some water. She bled a lot but it seems to be slowing down. Is this normal? I don't have any experience with this at all! I am so upset about this!

She struggled so, that her vaginal lining has likely torn. she will need antibiotics for this.. You can safely have her spayed within the next 3 weeks, which will solve the unwanted puppies problem and be much better for her own health..If she is allowed to carry these pups, without the treatment of antibiotics, they are likely to become toxic from infection..if she doesn't become too toxic and develop pyometra herself..

Call your vet. I am not sure why you came onto an internet site looking for answers instead of getting help for your dog.

Call your vet.

Call your vet.

I also don't know what you mean by 'trying to keep your female alone' but didn't know she was in season. Why would you keep her alone unless she was in heat? And how hard is it to keep your dog alone if she is?

Spotting just a little? Like as in she was IN HEAT??? Dogs don't spot unless they are in heat or have an infection...which a stupid male might misinterpret as the female being in season...and which might cause him to mount her...thus causing severe trauma to the female.

CALL YOUR VET!!!

You can take her to the vet for a shot that will prevent her from getting pregnant. There is a short window of time for it to be effective, so do this as soon as possible! Then the vet can give you a diagnosis of her health otherwise, too.

Did you try to pull them apart? Or did they rip apart? That's not normal at all. She may fight, but shouldn't bleed or be exhausted. Take her to the vet, get the shot, and make sure she doesn't get bred again. Get doggy panties and put them on her because they will prevent her getting into this situation again.
