She is the right age to come into heat for the first time. She will be in heat about 3 weeks. You MUST KEEP HER AWAY from any males. If she accidentally gets bred, you could loose her. She is not old enough. If you take her out, have her on a leash and do not leave her alone.

Like the others said, they do go into first heat at this age, like a teenager starts her period, but is still too young to have young. Get her spayed please. And she is still a puppy, til about 2 maybe even 3 years old. They still grow and emotionally and mentally mature until that age. Good job keeping such an observant eye and concern on her.

Oh yes this is definately the time for going into heat. And if this is her first heat then her health isn't in tremindous peril yet. After the second heat without being spayed her chances of getting mammary cancer increase greatly. So be sure to get her spayed ASAP after her heat cycle is over and then you will have many happy years with her without worrying about cancer and expensive and risky surgery to cure her mammary cancer.

Yes it is normal. Most breeders wait until the second heat to breed their dog.

Yes, females can go into heat from 6 months and older. Once she completes this heat cycle hopefully you will get her spade. It will prevent unwanted pregnancies, males from chasing her and cancer later in life.

Yup... dogs (and cats) can go into heat anytime after around 5-6mo, which is why most vets will now fix them at 4 months. Time to get her fixed.
