I adopted a 5 -year old chihuahua/papillon mix today from the shelter, and I'll get to bring her home Friday after she is spayed. She doesn't appear to be housebroken, and I'm not sure if I should try to paper train her like the other dog or try to train her to go outside. Any suggestions? Also - any suggestions on helping the dogs become friends?

i think scince your
mom had a stroke you should make the dog trained to go outside so she dosn't have to go outside and also so she dosn't have to clean up. + the fresh air would be good for her. if you live in the city i think you should try the opposite

maybe keep the dogs seperated at first by a fence or one of those babynets that keeep the todler from going down/up steps and into certain rooms... then when you see that they are geting alone let them play with each other for short amount of times also whatever you do to one of the dogs do to the other too. over time extend the play times together and then they will be buddies... that's what i did and now my dogs are the best of friends and you just can't seperate them...
good luck!!

Papertrained dogs tend to go in the house where you don't want them to. If you want to papertrain her, you can try. I wouldn't recommend it though.
