Cats - August 2007

I had a cat a couple years ago and I was sitting on my bedroom floor, placing some good food down on the floor for the cat to eat. I don't remember what, I think it was some chicken or something. Point is, it was definately a yummy treat that I expected my cat to gobble up. Instead, all of a sudden, the cat got all tense and freaked out and was staring inside my closet. It just kept looking in there and it's eyes were real big. She lost all intrest in the food and ran under the bed. No more than 30 minutes later, a fire started in that same closet. I swear. To this day, I still don't know how that fire started, but it was a serious fire. The whole place burnt. My family and I made it out unharmed, thank goodness. But sadly, I don't think my poor cat made it out. I never saw her after that.
Does anyone besides me think that this cat sensed that something wasn't right?
Or am I crazy for even thinking that?
Thanks, and sorry this is so long.

I used to have a cat, but haven't since I bought a house and completely remodeled it. Now the house is done, and I'd like to get a cat again. I don't like the idea of de-clawing - I think it's cruel. But, I now have expensive furniture in the house and also 2 very expensive antique persian rugs.

How is a clawed cat trained not to scratch/claw these things. I've always had problems in the past with this.

We have a cat who is refusing to use the litterbox to defecate. She will use it to pee, though. She's about 1-2 years old, otherwise healthy. We think it is causing her pain, because sometimes she even cries while trying to go. she also runs quickly away from the litterbox after using it, as if she thinks it is causing her pain. Her stools are usually real hard. She also has a bad hairball problem and vomits several times a week. The vomit looks like completely undigested cat food. The vet suggested we give her a few drops of mineral oil in her food. But if she senses or smells even a drop, she refuses to eat it. She also refuses to eat any food with hairball formula. actually, she'll only eat one specific type of food and virtually nothing else. The cat is tailless and has alot of the traits of a manx, though she was a stray. I wouldn't think she has manx syndrome because she can walk fine and is otherwise healthy. Any ideas?

my husband and i recently found a kitten out on the street she is really tiny and has bright blue eyes but they turn a reddish brown color when shes inside im not sure if this is just bc shes scared or the lighting... i've always owned dogs as my husband has had both dogs and cats. I just want to know how old she is before i take her to the vet as we're not sure if were going to keep her.

She's been gone for 4 months now and I still cry every day. She was hateful and egotistical and wouldn't let me hold her. She got into everything and tormented the other cats. She wouldn't let me brush her without a fight but she would bring me that ball to throw for her to fetch for hours and she took every step I took. She would sit beside me and purr and at night she lay on my feet. I can't get over this stupid cat I loved so much. What can I do?

hes always been a thin cat but now within a matter of a few weeks he's just became like bone thin. We were on vacaation during those weeks but we left him plenty of food and water and he even had some left when we got home. He is 2 years old. hes never had a problem like this before or any health problems. im really worried about him so any advice will help like will this go away, do i need to bring him to a vet, or what foods are safe to give him that will help him gain weight fast. Oh and he is an outdoor cat if that means anything.

thank you so much!!

He was sitting on my lap purring and the second I glanced down at him, he kind of jumped up and put his paws on my chest and started rubbing his head/face against my face. It made me uncomfortable, but I was like whatever.

So i started rubbing the cat on its' back and it continued to purr. Then it suddenly turned its' head really fast and put its' teeth around my hand.

He didn't clamp down, but still...

I put him on the floor after that. He jumped back on the couch five minutes later & tried to nuzzle me in the face again, but I ignored him, so he left the room and got in the window sill.

When is the world going to wake up to the fact that cats don't exist. They in fact never have. It is just a huge conspiracy thought up by evil people trying to make money and control the masses.

That cute cuddly cat you have in your house that you love so very, very much is really a computerized robotic invention. And you bought into it. Now it is contolling your every move. You better not let it out the wrong door, or buy it the wrong food or look at it wrong, or it will poop in your shoes.

Repeat after me: Fluffy is Not Real! Fluffy Is Evil!

My kitten was 5 weeks old and died last Friday. He was crippled from birth and I never expected him to survive. I am heartbroken. How long does it take to feel better. I know he is better now, but I miss him.

For my cat's birthday (six months) I was thinking of getting her a 'skirt' or 'pants' and putting a nice crown on her and may be put some lipstick and eye shadow and mascara etc ..( she is a female and probably loves makeup )

What do cat like for their birthdays ??

Okay so I have 9 kittens, i had made a post 2 times about one of them that almost died, but despite so many people saying i should put the poor thing down.. he is doing WONDERFUL no problems.. hes a 100% healthy kitten.. how to my question they will be 6 weeks this coming sunday. I have a few people that want one when they are ready but when is a good time to give them away. I have heard and read very different time frames. They all are cat box trained, they have nee drinking water and eating kitten food, soft and hard for 1.5 weeks now. There are two smaller ones, the runts that I dont think will be ready, but 7 of them are big and healthy and dont even really eat on mommy all that much anymore.. would 6 weeks be okay to give them away, or should i wait until 8?
