First of all it is contagious to humans so to be sure your vet needs to do a skin scraping and if it is positive then treat the kitten. The kitten may be scratching and have hair or fur loss. Good luck. Don't handle the kitten too much before you see the vet. If the kitten has it check yourself out as well. You may have a rash or a circle type rash. It could be most noticeable on your hands. Evita

Oh if your kitty has it, good luck.
My kitten had it when we brought her home. She started getting dry, scaly, bald patches of skin on her face, legs and body. She was very itchy too.
If your cat has it, you can catch it too and so can every other cat, human and possible rodent (such as a guinea pig) in your house. My son caught it from the kitten we got.
You'll need to quarantine your cat, take her to the vet to get an oral anti-fungal medicine and shampoo. Keep washing it every other day in the shampoo and give it medicine every day until it's out of the medicine. Ringworm can stay on the skin for WEEKS even if you can't see it anymore.
If you start to notice itchy red bumps you or other members of your household, Athlete's foot cream will take care of it (it's the in the same fungal family as ringworm). Put it on the ringworm spot 3 times a day for 6 weeks, even after it's disappeared. You CANNOT use any topical antifungal on a cat, as it will lick it off and get very sick.
Make sure you vacuum all carpets and furniture regularly and bleach any surface you can if the cat's had contact with it.

My cat had this bout 2 weeks ago.... symptoms are patches of hair falling out (even sometimes on its nose), and flaky skin. Vets perscribe a shampoo in which u need to bath the cat in water everyday then put a special ointment on the bald patches. Alot of work to take care of a cat with ringworm but they soon get back to health. But when ever near the cat be sure to wash ur hands etc.... ring worm very contagious!

They'll loose round patches of fur, and it's contagious to humans too. I had to keep my sister away from my cat when she had it. I never got it and her cat at her house never got it, so some cats and some humans won't get it, but I believe a cat can actually carry and transmit it without showing symptoms.

Yes, round patches of fur, and it's usually itchy. Not all species will glow under a black light, so it is important your vet does a culture to diagnose and identify it correctly.
