By the sound of it, you need to find an emergency/after hours vet. It's obviously an open wound- is it fresh and bleeding? If the wound is deep enough to expose the muscle, it needs to be properly investigated and cleaned before anything else, and he will probably need some sedation for this to be done. It will also need stitching, and possibly a drain as well. He's probably also in need of pain relief and antibiotics.
Animal bite wounds can be seriously nasty- not only is there a high risk of infection, but the skin around the wound can die off a few days later because of damage to the blood supply that cannot be seen at the time of the injury.
If there's no emergency vet that you can get too, keep him inside, somewhere warm and quiet, as he's probably in some degree of shock. If he'll let you, you can clean the fur around it with warm, slightly salty water, but don't touch the wound itself. Let him have water if he wants to drink, but it's better not to feed him- you're going to have to take him to a vet first thing in the morning if you can't find one tonight, and I said earlier he'll probably need to be sedated which can be done much more safely if he hasn't eaten.
Hope that helps, and hope that your cat is okay.

Definitely need to get it to a vet, if not tonight, then first thing tomorrow. Try to cover it tonight so she doesn't make it worse by licking it. If it's possible to do this without getting it on the wound, you can put some deodorant around the outside edges of the bandage(again, don't get any on the wound), that should keep it from licking the area. Vet had me do that after my dog got spayed.

You need to get him to a vet as soon as possible. One thing you can do until you can get him there is get some of that safe for skin medical tape and basically tape the wound closed. So, if the wound is running vertically you would want to place a few pieces of tape horizontally or vice versa. This is just a temporary fix, if it is deep as the muscle he will HAVE to have stitches.
If he is bleeding a lot you have no time to spare, if not taken care of right away he will bleed to death.

Call your vets office and even if they are not open they should have an emergency number so you can talk to someone.
If that doesn't work, look in your yellow pages for an emergency animal hospital and call them. Tell them what happened and they will tell you what to do until you get to the vets.
When you have a flesh wound like that she is acceptable to infection that can go to the bone. This needs to get handled a.s.a.p.
Good luck

A cat who was not mine showed up one day with a big slash on his leg. Could see the muscle in there. Well he wasn't mine so I ignored it. Turns out he kept coming back and back, and in no time the wound had completely healed on its own! The more a cat licks its wounds, the cleaner they are and heal better. He is now 8 and my youngest of 5 kitties. He cured himself and insisted on living with me!

find an emergency clinic they are 24 hour! infection can get introduced from the fangs of a wild animal, or just by being an open wound, and if you do not he could have his leg amputated!! so please hurry to the emergency vets office!!
look in the phone book and call first so you arnt driving around, and so they are ready for when you arrive.
